if you like dark romance and some twisted stuff in your books this one is for you. If you like True Crime this is also for you. If you like RH but sick of the same old RH this is for you also!

I read and listen to at least 200 books a year. It takes a lot for me to have a WTF moment with the plot and twisted sh*t I had a good amount of a good amount of actual laugh out loud moments, I had that all in this book and more.
Now my negative part this review, always has to be something... book 2 is not out yet on audio and I don't know if I can keep myself from spoiling the audio of book 2 by not reading it as an ebook or print. 🤞
Soooo stop reading the reviews and do yourself a favor and spend that credit or buy more credits if you're out or just buy this audiobook.

How is this series not talked about!? Ugh book 3 and 4 is not out on audio yet.😭
I'm obsessed! Only wish this was recorded in Duet not dual, that would have put this over the top! The performance was still good.

Narrators were amazing! can't wait to continue with these characters in the next series. now I have to go back in time for the other series. Booktok showed me Arran's Obsession, sparked interest as the plot was not the same old thing, I had no clue the other series had characters from this series. anyways!!
I figured out who the killer was, but I guessed changed my mind to a few others, then back to who the killer was and changed my mind again. it's not very often I don't have a book figured out and to have the plot still be enjoyable so that right there is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐s in my opinion. A ton of time if don't have it figured out the revile makes zero sense.

So excited to have this series in Duet Narration!

I enjoyed this series and was super bummed a while ago when I bought and listened to the previous recording only to find out Gold and Goldfinch had no release date. THEN I found out they were all being re-recorded in duet style so yes I have bought and pre-order them all. I waited until the date was closer for the release of Goldfish to start them in this format.
Anthony Palmini is one of my favorite narrators for fantasy ( not sure I have listened to anything he has done that is not fantasy but he was Rhysand and Kingfisher). I did like the female narrator but I think the voice of the previous vs fit a little better...but that could be because I listened to her for so long. There is NOTHING wrong with female narrator, please don't get me wrong.

This Author and these two Narrators in duet style together, how could you go wrong?! I just wish the prior books in this series were done in duet as well.
Story is predictable as most are now days (could be the amount of books I devour, not many are surprising or shocking) but done well.

Sorry had to put the Narration Style in the title. One day Audibles with make that a search feature. I like to know, some books I can't do in Dual Style Narration the voices are just sooo off I prefer to read those books.
Narration was great!! Brought the story and characters to life.
This book hit just about every emotion.
I enjoy how Authors add the backstory through the story vs a long drawn out backstory that is the first quarter of the book. But even with saying that, this was one of the BEST at adding part of backstory at the perfect time and just the right amount that kept the story going while giving insight to how and why the characters are the way they are or what got them where they were.
anyways is this worth the $ or credit.. YES! just read your triggers if you need to.
Side note 😭 when you find out how and who Abigail got her name... it was so sweet just thrown in there where it was, perfect. I don't normally tear up during books, there is a small handful of them and this one.

Emotional! Duet Narration

Broken down into 3 parts.
Part 1 was slow character building for the most part. Story took off in part 2. This book has some emotional rollercoaster parts far sure. Out of probably the last 200 books I have read/listened to in 2024 maybe 7-8 had my eyes water and 1-2 actual tears. This one had me full on crying more than once. Ariel put her heart and heartbreak into this book.
The narrators were fantastic! I am a BIG fan of Joe Arden and listen to most of the books he has been narrator for. Ugh I can't think of the female narrators name but she was amazing also.
Do yourself a favor get this on Audio l, there are some books that are just better on audio and this is one. The author and narrators put so much emotion into this one.
Spoilers*** kind of
For me I found part predictable but still a twist on how the predictable parts played out. That made the predictable parts worth it still.

the story line was not what I was thinking but I was pleasantly surprised. But I am a fan of Dark Romance and True Crime so win-win then top it off with two of my favorite narrators
