About this listen

The fae abandoned this world to us. And the ones with power rule.

Gold. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. Even me.

King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I'm called his precious. His favored. I'm the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don't leave the confines of the palace, I'm safe.

Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.

Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged, and I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong. Because these bars I'm kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage.

But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I'd never left.

From bestselling author Raven Kennedy comes the first book in the BookTok hit Plated Prisoner series, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout. The myth of King Midas is reimagined in this compelling adult fantasy series that is as addictive as it is unexpected. With romance, intrigue, and danger, the gilded world of Orea will grip you from the very first word. Intended for mature listeners.

Newly recorded in duet-style narration by Lilly Drake and Anthony Palmini.

one of all my all time favoraite series! the only thing that was lacking was the original narration. these new voice actors bring this story to life. I cannot wait for them to narrate the rest of the series!!

audio

a great book! i enjoyed the story & im excited to listen to the next one! while i love the woman who read it i can’t help but think she would be perfect for reading twilight. most of her sentences end in almost a question which is fine for the character considering her timidness but all i could think of is omg bella how the hell have you been loca lol

It was okay

I’ve heard the first book isn’t that great but the rest are amazing. I feel like it took way too long for her to find herself, but I understand that she was a trinket her entire life. Was pretty bored. I’m hoping the next book gets better.

on the fence

I'm not sure how much I liked this book, it took me half the book to get accustomed to the female narrator. MC acts too stupid to live at times, and I either zoned out or stuff just wasn't explained.

Not the same old romantasy….so much better.

This series is excellently written. FMC is adorable and not as typically annoying as many. Story is somewhat predictable, but when you’re on romantasy book number 599, they all are. The writing has lovely imagery and heart. Thank you so much RK! Keep ‘em coming!!!

Repetitive Dialog and trauma dumping

I don't know that I am going to continue this series. I dont know if I want to know enough about what happens to the characters to be trauma dumped for who knows how long. I felt like there was so much repetitiveness and it made me annoyed with the FMC. I get that this is Stockholm Syndrome. it felt like she made little development from that in this book which doesn't make me want to continue.

descriptions were repetitive and I was tired of "holy devine".

Beautifully written and performed

Wow. I just randomly chose this book and I am SO happy I did. The content of the story is just so well written and the narrator Lilly Drake (I think) WOW. Not to shadow Anthony Palmini but the female voice in this just really hits the mark and pairs so well with the character(s) in the book.

The story falls together so well as the books go on - I’m saying that having not gotten to the end of the series yet but I assume I won’t be disappointed. I honestly just couldn’t wait to rave about this.

The pictures that are painted with these words are so incredible as the writing just comes off the pages (I’ve been reading and listening) and the narrators just bring it all to life. I just cannot say enough good things.

It’s poetic, and beautiful, and heartbreaking, sexy, unpredictable and original. Exactly what I needed to get out of my head and into a new fantasy world since that last series (From Blood and Ash)

I’m just in love with this series. It’s my new favorite and I can’t wait to finish it- sort of lol definitely worth a listen.

The performance and the way they had names play males and females play female voices. So much better that way

The performance was excellence. The story was engaging and easy to follow. The evolution and secrets coming out was well timed and interesting.
