Good story, so-so narration
Reviewed: 12-26-24
I like most of the Longmire stories and this one is no exception. I've listened to several and here is where the complaint comes in. I can't abide this narrator! His voice slurs and he barely distinguishes between the characters. I think from now on I'll just read these books, unless you get a new narrator. 😊

Good story but disappointing formula
Reviewed: 09-09-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe. I had never listened to a dramatic reading and this has cured me of ever doing so. I didn't know much of what the story was about and trying to figure out what was going on with all the extra noise and the different characters coming and going was just too much. A lot of the story took place in an underground cave/well and the sound of all that water dripping really got on my nerves!
If you’ve listened to books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez before, how does this one compare?
I've listened to and read Joe Hill books before and this one just wasn't quite up to par with his others.
Which scene was your favorite?
The end when the bad guys were taken care of.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
yes
Any additional comments?
The cast did a really good job of voicing the characters.

Story
Fegan has been a "hard man" - an IRA killer in Northern Ireland. Now that peace has come, he is being haunted day and night by 12 ghosts: a mother and infant, a schoolboy, a butcher, an RUC constable, and seven other of his innocent victims. In order to appease them, he's going to have to kill the men who gave him orders. As he's working his way down the list, he encounters a woman who may offer him redemption; she has borne a child to an RUC officer and is an outsider too.

So depressing!
Reviewed: 06-01-16
Would you try another book from Stuart Neville and/or Gerard Doyle?
Probably not unless it wasn't about Ireland.
What was most disappointing about Stuart Neville’s story?
Ireland just seems like a place where so many live such despairing lives. Poverty, hatred, fighting, it just goes on and on and the bad language is awful.
Did Gerard Doyle do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes he did but there is a complaint. He seems to often suffer from dry mouth and you could hear the sound of it and man, does that grate on the nerves! Drink more water, Gerard.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
no

Story
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Would you consider the audio edition of Hexed to be better than the print version?
I never read the print version.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character, of course. What's not to love about a 2100 year old good looking, funny, wise, sexy druid?
Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?
Oberon, hands down! He's just hilarious.
Any additional comments?
I would highly recommend this entire series. Very engaging story, Luke does a fantastic job with all the different characters and voices.
