Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Got me from page one!!
Reviewed: 11-04-24
I have to say this series took me by surprise! I only bought it because I saw the narrator on TickTock and then looked for books she had done. This had me from chapter one. I stayed up late listening because I couldn’t stop. Awesome world building, amazing character development and Vi’s growth throughout the series was visible and substantial. The twists and turns had me feeling so many emotions. I did however see some things coming with who the "traveler” was once the time travel happened. I also saw the Jamie twist coming from a mile away. That is why it got the 4 stars on "story”. All and all this is a series I would highly recommend! Be prepared to keep those headphones on because you won’t be able to stop listening. The narrator was amazing also.

Awkward

I don’t even know where to start! This is literally the WORST book I have ever listened to. I can’t believe I finished this! The male narration is cringeworthy. I can’t believe they listened to this and then released it to the public. The female narrator is very good but how on earth did anyone listen to him and enjoy it. He is so monotoned and when he does change up a bit it is so exaggerated and choppy that I had to skip forward a few times it was so annoying! Now the story….. I liked the first book enough to try and set aside the male narration but this one was is no where as good. The sex scenes are laughable! It’s like a teenager wrote them and was trying to act like they are experienced. The cheesy nauseating love talk between Romain and Olivia was also laughable. There were so many moments in this story that were just so ridiculous that I will not be continuing on.

Story
Everything about my life is a lie. As a hidden twin princess, born second, I have only one purpose―to sacrifice my life for my sister if death comes for her. I’ve been living under the guise of a poor, obscure girl of no standing, slipping into the palace and into the role of the true princess when danger is present. Now the queen is dead and the ageless King Eidolon has sent my sister a gift―an eerily familiar gift―and a proposal to wed. I don’t trust him, so I do what I was born to do and secretly take her place on the eve of the coronation.

Annoying FMC
Reviewed: 09-02-24
This series would be amazing if not for the FMC! I have never been more annoyed with a character as I am with her. The amount of time spent talking about every thought she has or decision she makes is so ridiculous. I actually found myself saying "shut up already”! I could not deal with every time she analyzed why they were in trouble and how she is the reason for all the trouble. I truly think the story is great but seriously, Marrian shut up and move on! The narrator was very good with the exception of the men (they all sounded alike). I do want to continue on with the series but I just have to prepare myself for Marrian to over analyze and talk talk talk about who, what and why she is thinking about making a that specific decision!

Story
Iris Hollow and her two older sisters are unquestionably strange. Ever since they disappeared on a suburban street in Scotland as children only to return a month a later with no memory of what happened to them, odd, eerie occurrences seem to follow in their wake. And they're changing. First, their dark hair turned white. Then, their blue eyes slowly turned black. They have insatiable appetites yet never gain weight. People find them disturbingly intoxicating, unbearably beautiful, and inexplicably dangerous.

This is such an amazing book! I literally just laid in bed listening for hours because I couldn’t just stop! The narrator was brilliant and the emotions I felt were up and down non stop! I got angry, I was suspicious and I laughed so many time with what Tyler would say and how he would call Iris "Little Hallow”! I hope there is going to be another book!

Her last remaining relatives are the Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at the glittering and gloomy estate of Thorn Grove. Thorn Grove’s patriarch, Elijah, mourns his late wife, Lillian, through wild parties and drink, while eldest son Percy grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation and daughter Blythe suffers from the same mysterious illness that killed her mother.

I can not even begin to explain how good this book is. This book had me hooked by the end of page one! Also, the narrator was AMAZING! I sat in my bed just listening for hours. I so easily forgot that only one person was narrating this story because she is just that damn good! I honestly thought I had the murder nailed at about a quarter way through but I was so wrong! If you are trying to decide what book to choose next then look no further! You will be sucked in from the get go and you will be holding your breath while hugging a pillow to your chest at least a dozen times or more in this amazing story! I can’t wait until the next book!

First, the narrator was amazing as long as you set the speed to 1.25! Not sure why Audible has the slower torcher speed set as the standard but trust me speed it up to 1.25 and it’s awesome. Secondly, this book is vulgar and the "c” word is used non stop but if you can get past that the story is amazing. It starts out steamy and vulgar but it gets much much better! I had no clue that Fae were apart of this story until the last few chapters when introduced. This was an amazing book and I am very excited about book two! I have a feeling that Rip is gonna be the new Resand from ACATOR in the second book! Can’t wait!!

Nails on a chalkboard!
Reviewed: 04-24-22
Sigh,
I do not like giving bad reviews but this was a tough one for me. Several times I zoned out and had no clue what was happening. The best part of the book was the last two maybe three chapters. To start the story was so boring. There were only a few parts where I was actually fully in tune with the story line. Secondly, the characters were very annoying! The outcomes were predictable and the elves names were ridiculous. They didn’t even explain the reason for the 10 minute long names given to each person! However, the worst thing about listening was the narrators! I can’t understand how the director let the female narrator (Gabrielle de Cuir) portray the main character in a constant drawn out whiny voice! At times it was like nails on a chalkboard! She was supposed to be in her 20’s but talked like she was 14! The male narrator was not much better. His female voices were terrible! He was okay as the older father voice because he sounds like he is in his 50’s. There were a few times when he was suppose to be reading as a female character and I had no idea that he had changed it up. At least the female narrator gave us different voices for different character. I won’t be purchasing the rest of the series. Sorry.
