Barbara Rosenblat has the most incredibly varied voices. Truly a master.
One thing, though, I wish someone would edit out the mouth noises and swallowing—if Ms Rosenblat’s characters weren’t so wonderful, and Dorothy Gilman’s stories compelling, I couldn’t bear it. As it is, I could only tolerate it in the car where highway noise helped a little.

Likable characters, interesting premise, good story, smart protagonist, and a relief not to have the tired trope of the male and female leads butting heads! Clean, too. Well written.

Good stories and character development. I came to care about them early on. I didn’t want them to end up!
I hope there are more. I wasn’t crazy about most male characters having gravel for voices. Fortunately, Sebastian’s voice was pleasant.

I couldn’t imagine where this book was going—in the best way! The journey of it was delightful, and I considered a few directions it would probably take. But I enjoyed it so thoroughly, I didn’t stress over it. Just took in the surprises as they came. Very different from the Mrs. Pollifax series, which I also loved.
