The very first thing I noticed was that the VV narration is NOT in an English accent. Really? For a book set in early 19th century England? Then, as I got into the first dialogue exchange, I realized that I could not tell who was speaking. Not at all. Absolutely NO differentiation between speakers. I've listened to several VV books and I haven't had that problem before. Overall, this is the worst VV book I have listened to.

This story gave me all the things I like to see. Bingley to the rescue! Darcy screwing his head on straight without any help (well, maybe Georgiana's). A reformed Mr. and Mrs. Hurst. A better Lydia too, and an epic Caroline takedown! Too bad someone has to die.

I have long lamented that L T's books were not on Audible. I love this book. It's not her only good one though. How about A Step in Their Dance, The Troublesome Mr Collins, or others next, please?

Much of the book was taken up by a long digression on the psychology of world peace, which boils down to "We won't get world peace until we all want it.". Then the one on the culture of the Ukraine. The actual accident takes up less than ten percent of the book.

Mrs Gardiner knows about Mr Wickham!

I had wondered why Aunt Gardiner didn't know what type of man George Wickham was if she grew up in Lambton. In this variation she does know. In painful detail. When Elizabeth writes to her about the charming Mr Wickham she drops everything and comes to visit immediately to warn the family. In a fun twist, she's also distantly related to the Darcys of Pemberly. Mr. Darcy's reaction when he comes face to face with her at the Netherfield ball is worth the price of the book. Get it!

Unfortunately, if you compare it with the written text, there are two sections missing from the end of chapter five. The events are referred to in the last scene of the story (the proposal scene!) so the fact that they're missing is serious.
