Story
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Bad Advice
Reviewed: 04-13-21
There are some really powerful chapters in this book. But there are also some really offensive and tone deaf chapters.
The chapters regarding handling the suicide of her brother were so overwhelmingly powerful and thoughtful.
However, there were also a lot of chapters that seemed to be about her complaining without actually giving any advice.
There was also a chapter about managing your money which angered me to my very core. To summarize the chapter basically said, being poor makes your life harder, so don't be poor anymore, especially when going through heartbreak. This chapter made me want to both vomit and throw the entire book away. She often seems out of touch with the common population.

Story
Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a season, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned at best and overwhelmed and hopeless at worst. We quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness and why he allows us to suffer and experience grief and loss. Lysa TerKeurst understands this deeply. But after many tears, godly counseling, and prayerful seeking, she's also discovered that our disappointments can be the divine appointments our souls need to radically encounter God.

Life Changing Read, Sincerely
Reviewed: 09-19-18
I have read a lot of self help books in my life. A lot. While other books have made me think differently, this book actually encouraged me to get the f up and start pursing my dreams for real. This book was the most inspiring, relatable, encouraging, uplifting group of stories I have ever read. As I continue to rise in my success, I will have this book to thank for it. I absolutely cannot wait for her next book.
