Story
In upstate New York, in the woods around Woodstock, Dutchman's Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked, fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other's company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumors of the Creek, and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss it as just another fish story.

A Must for Mythos Fans
Reviewed: 02-04-25
The Fisherman is a strange and curious tale in keeping with the best of Lovecraft and his contemporaries.
The style is reminiscent of Zelazney, Burroughs, or Heinlein but with a folksy spun tale around a campfire feel.
I found it to be delightfully creepy and deeply intriguing. While portions of the story are disjointed or even confusing, it all finds its way back together, and the narrator excels at making it feel like something you might hear from your own grandparents.
Would definitely recommend to fans of weird tales.

Proper Murder Mystery
Reviewed: 09-12-24
Some of the recording could have been handled better, as breaks in the story immediately jump to the next scene which is a bit jarring.
Other than that minor issue, the narration is well done, the characters are interesting and detailed, and the story is a proper murder mystery. It lets you think you know what's going on again and again, but there's always one more twist. Definitely worth the listen.

Story
A sacred brotherhood has sworn, generation after generation, to protect this terrifying truth from those who would use it to unleash doomsday upon mankind. When the unthinkable happens, and the holy scroll is uncovered, the race is on to reveal the true meaning of the cryptic language. Only one man, Dr. Thomas Lourds, the world's foremost scholar of ancient languages, who we first met in the best-selling novel The Atlantis Code, can safely decipher this most deadly scripture.

Unbalanced, but not bad

The narrator did well. While I found the story interesting, it seemed like a lot more effort and detail went into the first two-thirds. The last portion felt very rushed and thrown together and I would like to have seen more to the climax and the denouement than I got. I also feel like the character development wasn't as good as in the Atlantis Code. Not a bad story, and I don't regret buying it, but it could have been better.

Story
A thrill-seeking Harvard linguistics professor and an ultrasecret branch of the Catholic Church go head-to-head in a race to uncover the secrets of the lost city of Atlantis. The ruins of the technologically advanced, eerily enigmatic ancient civilization promise their discoverer fame, fortune, and power...but hold earth-shattering secrets about the origin of man. While world-famous linguist and archaeologist, Thomas Lourds, is shooting a film that dramatizes his flamboyant life and scientific achievements, satellites spot impossibly ancient ruins along the Spanish coast.

The story was worth listening to and the performance was reasonable. I wish the narrator had a wider range of accents and voices to draw from, and the writer was clearly aiming for a Dan Brown mysteries of the church type story. Nevertheless I enjoyed it for what it was and will probably try the next book in the series.

Story
Matt Hollis is the current wielder of the holy weapon, DÄMOREN. With it, he stalks and destroys demons. A secret society called the VALDUCANS has taken an interest in Matt's activities. They see him as a reckless rogue - little more than a "cowboy" corrupted by a monster - and a potential threat to their ancient order. As knights and their sentient weapons begin dying, Matt teams up with other hunters of his kind such as LUIZA, a woman with a conquistador blade; ALLAN, an Englishman with an Egyptian khopesh; MALCOLM, a voodoo priest with a sanctified machete; and TAKAIRA, a naginata-swinging Samurai.

Tense, Thrilling, Graphic. Well worth it!

Well-written, well-performed, but definitely not for the faint of heart. While I wouldn't consider this a horror story, it certainly shares DNA with the horror genre.
If you enjoy monster hunting in graphic detail with a host of interesting characters and some intriguing tweaks to existing folklore, I highly recommend checking this one out.

The story is good overall and the performance was great as always. There are patches that are a bit rough where some of the characters are exceptionally belligerent, dumb, or infuriating.
