Publisher's summary
An ancient manuscript has remained concealed for centuries - within its pages lies the key to the most unholy secret known to mankind.
A sacred brotherhood has sworn, generation after generation, to protect this terrifying truth from those who would use it to unleash doomsday upon mankind. When the unthinkable happens, and the holy scroll is uncovered, the race is on to reveal the true meaning of the cryptic language.
Only one man, Dr. Thomas Lourds, the world's foremost scholar of ancient languages, who we first met in the best-selling novel The Atlantis Code, can safely decipher this most deadly scripture. Lourds soon becomes the bait in the most lethal manhunt - knowing he must confront the true face of evil if the world is to be saved.

Story
A modern classic, Einstein's Dreams is a fictional collage of stories dreamed by Albert Einstein in 1905, when he worked in a patent office in Switzerland. As the defiant but sensitive young genius is creating his theory of relativity, a new conception of time, he imagines many possible worlds. In one, time is circular, and people are fated to repeat their triumphs and failures over and over. In another, there is a place where time stands still, visited by lovers and parents clinging to their children.

Story
Dante's Inferno, his depiction of hell, was written while Europe was suffering through war, famine, the corruption of the Church, and the evils of the pogrom - the brutal massacre of countless Jews. Shortly after Dante's passing, the black plague killed off half the world's population, an end-of-days-like event that birthed a legend depicted in paintings and dance: the Grim Reaper. What few people know is that Dante's poem draws inspiration from the Zohar, an ancient text that warns that the true end of days will be brought on by the corruption of man.

Jonathan Davis Gives Great Audio
What did you love best about The Lucifer Code?
This is a fast paced mystery with understated humor. It made time fly listening for clues which equals entertainment in audio. If you are a heavy mystery fan, than this maybe too predictable for you. See Amazon reviews
What other book might you compare The Lucifer Code to and why?
yes, this had all the elements from Indiana Jones and the DaVinci Code but, I was not looking to discover a new best seller author, just good entertainment that was not dark with terror. J.D. reads Dennis Lehane's books which are great but very dark. Unfortunately too dark for me. This author is great as he leaves you wanting to go buy the other reads to continue the professors adventures in audio read by J.Davis.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love J.D. from his Sandra Brown's Mean Streak read. I have hunted out many authors trying to capture J.D. wonderful performance and talented reads. He has saved this series of #2,3,4 which I intend to buy all. I will skip #1 as that reader got awful reviews. J.D. made our hero funny, brilliant and yes sometimes bumbling. JD gives our professor the sexiness the author intended.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
yes, when I realized that great intentions can lead to things lost.
Any additional comments?
note: I am a core romance/mystery listener so beware deep heavy mystery fans.

Getting a bit formulaic
It's ok. But the types of characters are a repeat and highly predictable - as are the reactions the author limits them to.
One thing drove me crazy. In the first book of this series - the reader correctly pronounced the church mosque Hagia Sophia as ah YEE ah so FEE ah.
This reader was allowed by editors to completely mispronounce it every time. Bleh!!

good but seems formula driven after first book
enjoyed the story line, but, seemed rushed towards end of book. once again professor bangs both chicks in the story. I got the feeling the author is following a template, and the story is suffering.
still I enjoyed it and will get the next book and see if my thoughts hold true.

fun escapism
I enjoy a good horror adventure where the bad guy isn't defeated completely; too neatly packaged. My criticism is the sexual content. I am not prudish, but it just added nothing to the story line and made the otherwise strong females shallow.

Women are carbon copies...
...Of the first book. They just seem to serve as backdrops to bring to the fore the main character’s “bad boy,” with emphasis in ‘boy’, attitudes. Is disappointing, bc with some originality, these women could be compelling. But they are carbon copies of the first book‘s women. It really is too bad. If the third book is the same, I will have to walk away from this author. Sad... good stories, but awful carbon copy females in look, sexual expressions, and emotional responses. First time was off putting... second time it was a real turn off.

Overly long with a rushed conclusion
Third book by this author. Better than the first not as good as the most recent. The author is still finding his voice and there are too many wanderings to keep things moving. At the same time it is refreshingly not just jumping from battle to battle and the protagonist has become more likeable since the first book. The ending was foreshadowed many times and when it got to the final chapter the whole thing was a rush
