Military Women are Vital
Reviewed: 12-21-24
I had the pleasure of serving my country as a young woman in the early 80s, tho’ just reservist. I’m thankful for the women who went before me…those who served fur all generations! I would be interested in a compare and contrast of women who served in the USA to women who’ve served in other countries. Maybe I’ll one day do the research and write that story myself. There are a couple of great books out now loosely or maybe not so loosely written about women who have chosen to serve. The Women, The Six Triple eight My heart is full. Thank you for your serve and sacrifice to all who served fur!

Refreshing to read/listen to an intelligent, patriotic African American character. We do exist. I read another review that deemed the story unbelievable (haha), I get it. But apply that same remark to all the other perceived ‘blockbuster’ spy bestsellers. Unless it’s based on a true story none of them are totally believable if you think about it. From my perspective, I read to be entertained and with this story I absolutely was.

I have come to really enjoy Ashley Antoinette stories, but this was not of the same caliber as the “Ethic” series but had I listened to this series first perhaps I wouldn’t be as critical.
I did enjoy but probably would have opted for a different reader.

Story
Have you ever wondered about the choices men make and why they make them? Julie Reed wondered when Vic - her husband of six months - walked out on her for no apparent reason. Now he's happily in the arms of another woman. Roy Burges thinks he's made the right choice, but when his wife Stacey's skeletons come out of the closet, he realizes that what he thought was the right choice, was oh-so-wrong. For Colin Ray, choosing a new woman is like going to the grocery store. It's just something you have to do every week. That is until he runs into Emily.

Used my monthly Audible credit on another book that was mediocre at best, so started searching for one of the ‘included’ audibles when I came across this title. The summary was intriguing so I figured what the hell.
The reader has that raspy voice that makes it sound like he gargles gravel every morning which is great for the male characters, but takes imagination and some getting used to for the female characters, but all in all he did a good job. That with a decent storyline made for several entertaining hours of storytelling. Interesting make perspective even if it is fictionalization!

I’ve been an Octavia Butler fan since back in the 80s at college when I first came across her book at The Black Student Union Library on Purdue’s campus.
I loved the type of sci-fi that’s not too incredible with spaceships and fantastical hardware. Though I read the series years ago I stumbled across this audible gem and it is one of the freebies with my subscription so jumped at the chance to re-introduce myself to Octavia Butlers work.
Good times!

Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jim "Spaceman" Slade's got a problem. A SEAL team is only as fast as its slowest member - and right now, thanks to his battered knees, that's Jim. He reluctantly takes medical leave, but he's a SEAL, so he spends his "vacation" as an instructor, helping out a former senior chief who runs a camp for SEAL wannabes. But to Jim's shock, he finds himself falling for the one woman attending the camp session - an obviously brilliant but seemingly timid lawyer who is determined to do everything her way, no matter how wrong.
