Story
Lady Maximilian is the daughter of the powerful Duke Croyso, but she is rarely allowed outside her family’s sprawling castle for fear that her stutter will tarnish their noble name. When she is forced to marry Sir Riftan, a lowborn knight caught in one of her father’s schemes, Maxi doesn’t dare hope for happiness, let alone love. Her stumbling communication and his gruff manner sour their relationship before it can begin, and Riftan leaves without a word the morning after their vows are exchanged.

The suspense was fun and I really like the dark mood

I wish there was more supernatural aspects but I had a blast once it really got going. I felt the love the main characters had for each other as well as the complications they both faced. Both were imperfect but that made things that much better.

The spice was good but I was hoping for a little more feeling.

I wasn’t a fan of the narration. It didn’t dive home the feelings there were available. To me it was just like a little cold.

Story
When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

I felt so happy reading this book.

The narration was spectacular. He did a great job with the characters and with the story completely. I never wanted to stop listening. And the story itself was captivating and fun! It was joyful even when the characters weren’t having the most fun. I find I enjoyed his inconveniences just as much as his victories. I loved this book and all it’s characters. My new favorite.
