this novel is gruesome bloody and describe some very hideous and wrong things in detail if you got a weak stomach and a vivid imagination this is not a book for you. the story was interesting the pacing was fast you didn't really care about the characters that much but all at once you did I'd give it 4 out of five the narration was amazing

Story
Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won't take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular. When he finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally. There had to be a reason that the outfitter, with whom he's had run-ins before, chose his backyard, his woodpile to die in.

To anyone reading this do your self a favor and listen to or read this book. As I first started listening to this book I thought I knew exactly how the story was going to go. I was wrong this book has so many twists and turns and unexpected things happen that you're always on your toes and always on the edge of your seat. The writing is superb the characters are fantastic and you'll never see what's coming next. all of this is due to not only the story itself but the narration of the story both the narrator in the author put together or a match made in heaven. I can't say enough besides read this book you'll thank me later.

story was great. virtual voice narrator on the other hand was awful. I will never understand why authors allow their books to be read by this virtual narrator it's terrible it sounds like s*** it takes away from their book and the story that's being told and the overall performance. quit being a tightwad spend some freaking money and hire a real narrator.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

I finally stories to be interesting I find the characters to be memorable and I find that it's all brought to life by amazing narration. I've been listening to narrator Paul Jay McSorley for quite a while. I find that generally any book that Paul does is to my liking. so when he recommends an author I tend to listen and I hit it big with this one. Stephen Becker is a great author who paints a picture like no other his stories are short intriguing and enjoyable and the two of these men are a force to be reckoned with in the audiobook industry I highly recommend this book and the rest of the companion books that go in this series I would check out anything Mr Becker writes and I would check out anything that Mr McSorley narrates. these are just my humble opinions I hope you feel the same way I do enjoy the book
