Nostalgic thriller

I couldn’t stop listening to it. Once it got started I had to hear it all the way through. I haven’t read a thriller that good in a long time. I enjoyed that it was fast-paced. You may think you have it figured out from the beginning….think again. Loved the characters and narrators. Will be getting copies for all of my friends and definitely going to recommend to anyone looking for a feel-it-in-your-bones thriller. Highly recommend.

I loved it all

I was hesitant on “reading” this book due to a review about the narrators voice for the characters. A good narrator makes it or breaks an audible. I had my reservations because of my love for Klaus. I have high standards for that character. Joseph Morgan plays his character so well. Let me say that the narrator did a phenomenal job matching the cadence of the characters. I was blown away. I would highly recommend. I love the show. I love the characters. They have such a variety of personality but yet also intune fundementally on a deeper level with each other. The author does a great job with making you fall in love with all of the characters. Each one holding a special place in your heart. There is at least something in all of them the reader can relate to and in someway humble the spirit in the best way. I love the setting. New Orleans is such a magical city. It does feel like stepping into the old world. You can feel the history and presence of magic of old walking the streets of New Orleans. The music, the art, the history…The author gives homage to that beauty and mystery. I love the conflicts within the characters as well as conflicts with external forces. The passion, the loyalty, the romance, the rage, the chaos, the hope, the mixture of fantasy and real world circumstances. I really wish the show would have followed this story path because it really would have been a game changer. I couldn’t get enough. I can’t wait to read the next book. So so good. Great job Julie Plec. You created something special I will cherish always. Great job Saskia Maarleveld. You brought these characters to life and continued my love for them. All the stars. Bravo.

Really enjoyed this read. Loved the narration. The story was easy to connect with all of the characters and you truly felt what it was like to be in their shoes. This book took me on a whirlwind of emotions. Moments I had goosebumps, edge of my seat, smiling, tearful, joyful, sadness, all with mystery, murder, ghosts and untold stories of the forgotten. I wasn’t able to predict the events of the story like most murder mystery books. This one definitely kept me in tune to find out what happens next. Worth it.

I couldn’t stop listening to this book. I loved the characters and the unknown of what would happen next. Very interesting in so many ways. I liked the contrast and insight. Logic vs faith and the desire for both at the same time. The narrator was phenomenal. I would highly highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an adventure. So good. I wish I could have had more of Thora and Santi. I was sad for the book to end.

It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.
