In this short and spirited book, Campbell introduces listeners to the apostle he has studied in depth over his scholarly career. A little hard to follow
Reviewed: 12-04-22
This book has a lot of interesting content, however since it is not really chronological, it is a little hard to follow. The narrator's voice is extremely deep which can get a little tedious and evoke sleepiness. I suggest reading other books about Paul in addition to this one.

Story
With passion and purpose, Greg Laurie and Ellen Vaughn tell the amazing true story of the Jesus Movement, an extraordinary time of mass revival, renewal, and reconciliation. Setting fascinating personal stories within the context of one of the most tumultuous times in modern history, the authors draw important parallels with our own time of spiritual apathy or outright hostility, offering hope for the next generation of unlikely believers - and for the next great American revival.

A combined Jesus Rev history and G.Laurie bio

Very nice compilation of the Jesus Revolution that I was tangentially a spiritual offspring, and an autobiography of Greg Laurie. Nice memories for me yet fascinating history for younger Christians. Yes, this really happened and was so central to millions of American lives of a particular age. Enjoy.

Great perspective, could've been shorter
Reviewed: 12-26-21
Kayleigh provides a unique and real life perspective of the life of a presidential press secretary while being a strong woman of our faith. Very interesting but also a little repetitive. I think the story could have been improved with a little less of the tick-tock of each day and a little more of Kayleigh's inner thoughts, feelings, and her own ideas. All in all a worthwhile read. : )

Story
People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

America was made manifest by its cars. From the assembly lines of Henry Ford to the open roads of Route 66 and Jack Kerouac, America's history is a vehicular history-an idea brought brilliantly to life in this major work by the acclaimed author of Crash Course: The American Automobile Industry's Road from Glory to Disaster.

This was a nice overview of many of the most culturally and socially important cars in the American automotive experience. How were they conceived, designed, produced and marketed. Interesting insights, successes and failures. Not mechanically technical, but a light listen.

Story
What to do when they say they’re Christian but don’t know Jesus. Whether it’s the Christmas and Easter Christians or the faithful church attenders whose hearts are cold toward the Lord, we’ve all encountered cultural Christians. They’d check the Christian box on a survey, they’re fine with church, but the truth is, they’re far from God. So how do we bring Jesus to this overlooked mission field? The Unsaved Christian equips you to confront cultural Christianity with honesty, compassion, and grace, whether you’re doing it from the pulpit or the pews.

Bible based truth
Reviewed: 01-02-20
This is it, the straight truth about the Bible and the state of Christianity in the US today. If you aren't accepting of these principles in this book, then your argument is not with the author but with the Bible as all his points are clearly Biblically referenced. Challenge yourself to listen and consider.

The morning of his sentencing, Davy (a hero to some, a cold-blooded murderer to others) escapes from his cell, and the Lands set out in search of him. Their journey is touched by serendipity and the kindness of strangers, and they cover territory even more extraordinary than the Badlands, where they search for Davy from their Airstream trailer.

Story
We call it domestic violence. We call it private violence. Sometimes we call it intimate terrorism. But whatever we call it, we generally do not believe it has anything at all to do with us, despite the World Health Organization deeming it a 'global epidemic'. In No Visible Bruises, journalist Rachel Louise Snyder gives context for what we don't know we're seeing. She frames this urgent and immersive account of the scale of domestic violence in our country around key stories that explode the common myths....

Silicon Valley is imperializing the planet. But Silicon Valley does not answer to the electorate; nor have they been voted into office. And the perils of their influence are only now making themselves known.

Fact filled monotone with a British accent
Reviewed: 11-14-18
There is a lot of information and facts in this book. There was also much anticipation for analysis and "what it means for our future", but the book doesn't deliver on that score. There is no "story" here, just a train of historical information. But there is a lot of information.
A big negative for me was the unrelenting monotone and complete lack of inflection or pauses in the reading. Compounding this is a strong British accent which is interesting at first, but soon becomes very tedious. It was hard to keep awake.
This book is big on content but weak on engagement, a missed opportunity.

Story
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

As others have already said, the story is amazing. I found myself muttering out loud, "No, how is that possible?" many times throughout. You can't make this stuff up. I had to pull myself away from listening several times it was so hard to put down. Instead of becoming the new Steve Jobs, Theranos became the new Enron. So hard to believe it could happen again. Can't wait to see how this story palys out in court.
