I enjoyed this book so much. I had a pretty good idea from the beginning where things were going. But it was put together so well, that didn’t bother me at all. And picking the “bad guy“ for this book. It may be one of, the best villain types. Even better than the bad guys in the Indiana Jones movies. You definitely want to hate them and you are rooting for the protagonist. It’s a great read and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Oh, and great narration as well. The acting was super.

Story
This is the book that dares to show us the military hardware, global upheavals, and raw combat a second Korean War would unleash. How F-16s would blast across the 38th Parallel. How ultra-modern submarines would vie for the seas. And how two armies would turn the snowfields of Asia red with blood. A thundering geopolitical thriller of vast scope, this is Red Phoenix - and a new standard for military/political suspense fiction.

I loved every Cold War era Tom Clancy book. But that was a very long time ago when the world was still immersed in the Cold War or post-Cold War. So when I started listening to this i was immediately turned off because it took place in the 80s. It seems like with techno military thrillers, the old technology references are so out of date the book is lame. But this was not that way! I loved it. It was a great balance of global politics, military tactics sprinkled with solid technological references. Super fun listen. I couldn’t put it down
