I have never loathed and loved a character quite like Jude. I feel sick to my stomach and heavy in my heart.

Plot twist at the end but not really, it was obvious, maybe best for high school audience that’s just getting into a mystery genre. Wasn’t for me, narration was off too.

A cannon. A strap. Or, you can call it a gun. That's what 15-year-old Will has shoved in the back waistband of his jeans. See, his brother Shawn was just murdered. And Will knows the rules. No crying. No snitching. Revenge. That's where Will's now heading, with that gun shoved in the back waistband of his jeans, the gun that was his brother's gun. He gets on the elevator, seventh floor, stoked. He knows who he's after. Or does he?

Connell and Marianne grew up in the same small town, but the similarities end there. At school, Connell is popular and well liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation - awkward but electrifying - something life changing begins. A year later, they’re both studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Marianne has found her feet in a new social world while Connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain. Throughout their years at university, Marianne and Connell circle one another.

Boring
Reviewed: 01-18-24
I had to finish this just to give an accurate review, this was a chore to get through. The narrative is fine, but the story is so, so boring. It was okay in the beginning and i just kept hoping something would happen, nothing did. By the end, Mary-Ann annoyed me so deeply I thought she was insanely self sabotaging and “pick me”. I wouldn’t recommend this book. I did like the timeline jumps though, i was hoping there would be more progress in the plot between the jumps but alas nothing.

Story
Julia Fox is famous for many things: her captivating acting, such as her breakout role in the film Uncut Gems; her trendsetting style, including bleached eyebrows, exaggerated eyeshadow, and cutout dresses; her mastery of social media, where she entertains and educates her millions of followers. But all these share the trait for which she is most famous: unabashedly and unapologetically being herself. This commitment to authenticity has never been more on display than in Down the Drain. With writing that is both eloquent and accessible, Fox recounts her turbulent path to cultural supremacy.
