Story
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Maybe the best in the series
Reviewed: 02-26-25
I’ve been listening to and reading everything DCC since right around when book 4 released. I am consistently impressed with Matt’s ability to continually outdo his own work over and over again as the series progresses; and This Inevitable Ruin is no exception to the pattern. We’ve been hearing about Faction Wars since all the way back at that faithful moment when Donut put that tiara on her head, and all I’m gonna say is: It lived up to the hype.

Story
With an army marching on the liberated city of Halsmet, Nathan and his allies are prepared to fight to the death. Giantsrest may have overwhelming magical might, helmed by the nearly immortal archmage Badud—but Nathan has a few tricks of his own. To win the war that will follow, Nathan must risk it all. With his skills as an antimage and assassin, he will disguise himself behind enemy lines, attacking where Giantsrest least expects it, in the capital—the political heart of their power, where mages jockey for status. But one wrong move would spell failure and place Gemore in the crosshairs.

Amazing payoff to the preceding books
Reviewed: 02-12-25
I REALLY enjoyed this book. Many of the storylines set up in the earlier books had payoffs/were expanded upon satisfactorily in this one. I can only say that I’m greatly looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Also as others have noted there is an issue with the end of chapter 26, but I do not think it merits reducing the rating of this book or the performance which I enjoyed greatly otherwise.

Story
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

Incredible book
Reviewed: 12-27-19
I just finished morgana and all I can think about is the ending. this was the first book or audio book to make me actually cry. The author really didn't have to do that :(
Don't let that turn you off from the book because it's arguably the best one in the series so far but oh my god did it leave me feeling empty inside. unfortunately this is currently the last narrated part of the series, but there's more on royal road so hopefully I'll be able to find peace there :'(

When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. Story
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

An extremely enjoyable listen
Reviewed: 11-08-16
I've already read the entire series and I must say it becomes more enjoyable with every read/listen. This series especially the first 3 are perfect for listening to whilst multitasking, I say this not because the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th books are bad but simply due to their more serious and all important natures; whereas, the first 3 are more lighthearted.
