About this listen

The Empire of Giantsrest must fall.

With an army marching on the liberated city of Halsmet, Nathan and his allies are prepared to fight to the death. Giantsrest may have overwhelming magical might, helmed by the nearly immortal archmage Badud—but Nathan has a few tricks of his own.

To win the war that will follow, Nathan must risk it all. With his skills as an antimage and assassin, he will disguise himself behind enemy lines, attacking where Giantsrest least expects it, in the capital—the political heart of their power, where mages jockey for status. But one wrong move would spell failure and place Gemore in the crosshairs. Striking from the shadows, he must defeat his targets and uncover the secrets of the Academy before his time runs out.

Even if he fails, Nathan is sure of one thing.

His enemies will learn to fear the antimage.

The ends of magic series has been my new addiction for the past couple of months. I drive about 3 hours round trip for school every weekday and the audiobooks have kept me sane. The story and pacing is amazing and keeps the reader wanting more. I’ve found myself just getting in the truck to drive around so I can listen to more.

My new addiction

Love the story but the editing at the end of some chapters transitions a little fast. It also seems an entire section of the story was cut out between the end of chapter 26 and the start of 27. The story cut out the events from the end of morning to afternoon and picks up in the evening.and then references insights gained during the missing section.

Great story but poor editing

Fun, well-written, satisfying continuation of the story. I'm looking forward to book 5. My only grip is something went weird with the recordong at the end of chapter 26.

As good as usual!

I love this story. I love the incorpation of real world science and magic combined. I love the narrators voice. I love everything about this book because I am a student and I can escape with this book but I also understand the scientific explanations, which is exciting! Thank you for this wonderful book, please make more 🙏 ❤️.

I can't get enough.

Great story, engaging plot, excellent narration, poor editing. Chapter delineation never landed on the right spot: sometimes there was still a line or two of the last Chapter still playing, sometimes they were half a line into the Chapter when the marker flipped. Chapter 26 seems to have had the last 1/3 removed, the narrator counts out mid word, in the morning, and then the story picks up immediately in the evening referencing things that happened in the cut narration.
Again, a great story, but I really wish I could get the audiobook from another production company.

Editing really needs more Quality Control

I REALLY enjoyed this book. Many of the storylines set up in the earlier books had payoffs/were expanded upon satisfactorily in this one. I can only say that I’m greatly looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Also as others have noted there is an issue with the end of chapter 26, but I do not think it merits reducing the rating of this book or the performance which I enjoyed greatly otherwise.

Amazing payoff to the preceding books

Can't wait for the next one. The progression is deeply satisfying, and the author is building an immensely interesting world

A series that gets better with every book

I love this book. good development from the last one. However I have an audio bug that cuts off the last few minutes of chapter 26.

Very good book but has a bug

I think this might be the best book in the series so far. The pace flows seamlessly from book 3, and everything I enjoy about this saga is in full effect for the entire run. Nathan continues to be a very likeable and relatable protagonist, and the evolving intrigue surrounding Questors and the Endings is very enthralling.

Alexander Olson does not miss.

This series is really interesting and fun. My only issue is that Nathan doesn’t really lose at anything in any meaningful way. There is a lot of “yes and” instead of “yes but”. I like that he wins a lot but it would be nice if he lost something important that changed the story dramatically. The transition with character conflict that lead him to the Accademy was a good example of this. I just hope the series doesn’t turn into “Nathan wins everything” with no drawbacks or meaningful consequences. I guess you could argue the ending with the questor bringing the premature ending could kinda be like that.

Apart from that, the magic is very interesting and the 2nd half of the book I couldn’t put down. It was nice when Nathan took the plot into his hands.

Fun but
