About this listen

Jim Dale's Grammy Award-winning performance of J.K. Rowling's iconic stories is a listening adventure for the whole family.

There it was, hanging in the sky above the school: the blazing green skull with a serpent tongue, the mark Death Eaters left behind whenever they had entered a building... wherever they had murdered...

Close your eyes and enter the magical world of Harry Potter. In these editions, Jim Dale's characterful narration is so entertaining, fun, and theatrical you can almost hear the crackle of the fire in the Gryffindor common room.

When Dumbledore arrives at Privet Drive one summer night to collect Harry Potter, his wand hand is blackened and shrivelled, but he does not reveal why. Secrets and suspicion are spreading through the wizarding world, and Hogwarts itself is not safe. Harry is convinced that Malfoy bears the Dark Mark: there is a Death Eater amongst them. Harry will need powerful magic and true friends as he explores Voldemort's darkest secrets, and Dumbledore prepares him to face his destiny...

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

Female voices

The only drawback of the reading is that the girls voices didn’t sound like a girls voice especially Ginny.

I'm dumbledore's man, through and through.

Any additional comments?

It is impossible to answer a question about this book without being the biggest prattling spoiler spilling flubberworm on the planet. So many scenes where we finally get answers, answers to things we didn't think we needed. So many scenes that moved me but I can't say why or when because thats the mystique, the grandeur of this tale. This book is a perfect keystone to this entire 7 part story. Although this was 18+ hours, it felt a lifetime and also like a secon. It feels like just yesterday I was listening to the fifth book, yet I was SOO transfixed with this story I found myself wide mouthed, sitting on my stationary bike and no longer peddling. Damn good book.

Better

I was very disappointed with Order of the Phoenix. So I was very happy to find the half blood Prince was much better written. Seeing more of Harry and Dumbledore plus learning more about our enigmatic Voldemort was a fantastic Journey.

A really good listen

Any additional comments?

It doesn't matter if you have read the books and watched the movies, the audible version still keeps you on the edge of your seat. Rowling is a phenomenal story teller and Jim Dale is a most talented reader. The audible version of the Harry Potter series is excellent.
