Story
Kathleen is busy running the library and planning her upcoming wedding to detective Marcus Gordon when she suddenly stumbles across a body in the library. She is surprised to learn that the deceased was in the middle of an unlikely heist—it seems he was trying to steal one of the paintings that had been in a box in the library's workroom. Kathleen never knew any of the library's rotating artwork was valuable and can't imagine what the dead man wanted with it.

Story
As a wielder of domestic magic, Finlay Ashowan likes to keep his affairs as neat and orderly as his kitchen. But between his work for the King and Queen of Daxaria and a new (secret) relationship with Lady Annika Jenoure, his life is anything but tidy. For one thing, if Annika and Fin are to continue their romance, they’ll need to sort out the pesky issue of Fin’s being a commoner—before Annika is forced into a political marriage that interferes with her own carefully laid plans. For another, pressure is mounting as the war with Troivack draws ever closer.

I was very pleased with sage development of the characters and the widening of the circle around the main character. I would like to have seen this section spread out a little longer and not end so quickly after Finn's father showed up.

Story
When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

There were a lot of twists in this particular however.
However, several of the twists were never truly completed. Which kind of left me a little wanting. Usually the ending is much more locked down. Then then this particular was but maybe that's indications of another novel coming soon

Story
The refugees from the Empire have established a thriving city called Haven with the help of the Tayledras and their allies. But the Tayledras have begun a slow withdrawal to the dangerous lands known as the Pelagirs, leaving the humans of Haven to find their own way. But even with Haven settled, the lands around Haven are not without danger. Most of the danger comes in the form of magicians: magicians taking advantage of the abundant magical energy in the lands the Tayledras have cleansed; magicians who have no compunction about allying themselves with dark powers and enslaving magical beasts.

Story
Just because Detective Quinn is on holiday does not mean that the rest of Riddler’s Edge gets to take a break. And it definitely doesn’t mean that Aisling misses him. But even if she did miss him - ever so slightly, mind you - she has far more urgent things to worry about. Like the fact that every single person the detective asked to look after his lighthouse has met with an unfortunate accident. Or the fact that a mysterious casino has appeared overnight - and instead of winning money, the gamblers are winning wishes....

I enjoy the interaction between lady hardcastle and flow I also like the idea this time of the introduction of Gwen and getting some more information on flos background. I also enjoy all the twist and turns as the clues have become available. I do have some trouble with the British slang of the time but the more I am involved with the series the better I'm getting at it
