The characters motivations are repeated over and over and over. worst of all the motivations are juvenile at best. The only other issue is that neither author seems to have met a service member or an actual human to base their characters on.

Story
If the broken neon signs, shuttered storefronts, and sub-standard housing didn’t tip you off, you’ve just wandered into the city of “Undisclosed”. You don’t want to be caught dead here, because odds are you just might find yourself rising from the grave. That hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting to check out the unusual phenomena that hangs around our town like radioactive fallout. Interdimensional parasites feeding on human hosts, paranormal cults worshipping demonic entities, vengeful teenage sorcerers, we’ve got it all.

I would not have given this book a chance if it wasn't included in the membership. It is a very tight and concise story. Good character development and does not deviant from the story.

Story
After the daring rescue of a political dissident, Omega Force is contracted to investigate a rash of violent attacks on civilian shipping lanes within a group of star systems known as the Concordian Cluster. It seems a simple enough job with a huge payday at the end, and it's exactly what the ragtag group of mercenaries needs in order to keep their ship flying and to stay one step ahead of those hunting them.

This series of books is well worth the time and is one of the rare ones you will listen to again.
The stories are for the most part stand alone until later in the series. The author does a great job with the basics of story and character. Nothing to heavy, just great characters and a solid story without being to formulaic.

A well written tale of past trauma set in an isolated ongoing apocalypse. If you are looking for a lot of action this will not satisfy you. If you are looking for an interesting human drama then jump in. But you will be disappointed by the cliffhanger ending and no second book on audible.

Well written story with characters you can believe are real. I recently delved way back into my library and rediscovered this gem. Well worth a listen for a classic crime story written from the perspective of the bad man.
The author does a great job writing his female characters and world building.
