About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Jason Pargin’s hilarious and horrifying John Dies at the End series continues with If This Book Exists, You’re in the Wrong Universe.

"Pargin once again delights with scathing social commentary thinly disguised as an outrageous action novel.... This is a feast." (Publishers Weekly)

If the broken neon signs, shuttered storefronts, and sub-standard housing didn’t tip you off, you’ve just wandered into the city of “Undisclosed”. You don’t want to be caught dead here, because odds are you just might find yourself rising from the grave. That hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting to check out the unusual phenomena that hangs around our town like radioactive fallout. Interdimensional parasites feeding on human hosts, paranormal cults worshipping demonic entities, vengeful teenage sorcerers, we’ve got it all.

Did I mention the possessed toy? It’s a plastic football-sized egg that’s supposed to hatch an adorable, colorful stuffed bird when a child “feeds” it through a synchronized smartphone app. What’s actually inside is an otherworldly monstrosity that’s enticing impressionable wayward youth into murdering folks and depositing their body parts inside the egg as if it’s a hungry piggy bank to trigger the end of the world.

That’s where Dave, John, and Amy come in. They face supernatural threats so the rest of us don’t have to—and sometimes even earn a couple of bucks to so do. But between the bloody ritual sacrifices and soul-crushing nightmares, our trio realizes this apocalypse is way above their pay grade.

Never disappoints

Damn it I love these stories so much. I would read 900 more of them more happily than I would watch Doctor Who
That’s right. I said it.

"Another One" - DJ Khaled

Jason/David has done it again, another absolute banger for the JDATE series. Really enjoyed the ending on this one. John, Dave, Amy and Joy all get their own parts to shine. Reminds me why I fell in love with these books and makes me want to go back and start the series all over again. Love the series, loved this book. 10/5.

My Meat is Pleased

This review headline is non sexual. I guess you'll just have to listen to this book to find out what I mean. Seriously I couldn't recommend a book more. It is hilariously spooky. I am a huge fan of this series.

A nice return to form

I was really skeptical about where this series would go after the last book in this series left me utterly uninspired. So much so, I wasn't planning on reading this book at all until I saw some of the glowing reviews.

Well, I'm glad I took a chance on it. This book was a great return to form for Mr. Jason 'David Wong' Pargin. In stark contrast to the last book, this book has gone back to the roots of David and John. The writing is clean and straightforward, and is no longer trying to be something it simply isn't. Humor has returned in regular doses to help keep that fun balance between paranormal and comedy. This is the closest spiritual successor to John Dies at the End so far, and I hope it marks a trend for future books in the series.

Thorne does a great job with the narration as always. Definitely worth checking this book out if you enjoyed John Dies at the End,

love it.

If you don't love it, It's because you're boring. Boring people don't have good meat.

If John Green narrated a Hank Green novel...

...this would be it. Absolutely fantastic. I love that this book was my last book of 2022.

Great Narration, but a bit tinny.

Narrator is great but it sounded a bit tinny, like it was missing bass.
