About this listen

Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring wardrobes, shattered Brooka glassware, and vandalized Liripip sofa beds—clearly someone, or something, is up to no good. To unravel the mystery, five young employees volunteer for a long dusk-till-dawn shift and encounter horrors that defy imagination. Along the way, author Grady Hendrix infuses sly social commentary on the nature of work in the new 21st-century economy.

A traditional haunted house story in a contemporary setting, and full of current fears, Horrorstör delivers a high-concept premise in a unique style.

Fun Story and Great Narration

A well narrated story, by both Sammons and Pinchot. Easy to follow plot-line with likable characters. A nice summertime listen.

A fun listen

Just finished this one. What a fun read. I really liked how the product descriptions, advertisements / commercials, changed in nature as the story progressed.

Much promise, but the performance from the woman ruins it.

The story is well written, but the performance from the woman ruins the intensity of the story. Could have been better.

Sets up an interesting mystery...

and then goes in a totally different direction. I really liked the beginning and the end, and the chapter intros were very atmospheric and increasingly spooky as the book went on. But somehow the book just failed to fully click with me.

Great audiobook

I only hope he does a sequel to answer some of the questions I have!

The flow is good, storyline is great. I had to rewind a couple of times because some of the scenes would change so rapidly that I wasn’t sure what happened. But overall - great!

Kind of boring

This book wasn’t as good as My Best Friend’s Exorcism. The story was a little boring more cheesy less horror. The little intros before each chapter were sill but kind of took away from being “in the story”also the narrator gave several characters southern accents even though the story is set in Ohio?? That was throwing me off too. It’s ok for a freebie. I wouldn’t have wanted to use a credit for it though.

Excellent, tongue in cheek horror!

Really loved this one! Grady Hendrix does a great job of writing characters that are not always likable, but that ARE relatable. They have normal human foibles, no one is one dimensional. And I dont think I'll ever be comfortable in an Ikea again...
