Don’t get me wrong. This book is a nice sweet romance novel. However, it really strolled, and meandered along without much excitement. Even the one and only love scene was super tame. It was written in a very tame flashback style that left me underwhelmed. This just feels like a good and safe book by Mary. I wanted something a little spicier since the heroine was nearly 50 years old. Yes I know about propriety and all of those things, but whatever happened to the “Merry Widow?” I figured a woman of a certain age could pretty much do what she wanted in relationships. It just didn’t do it for me. If you like a nice sweet romance novel, this is right up your alley, but if you’re looking for something a little spicier, this is not it.

This was a really sweet story. I wish there was more dialogue between the two before they said they loved each other. Sometimes it’s difficult to know when a character is speaking in their head and when they are actually saying the words to someone in the story, that’s the only downside of audiobooks. But this was a really good listen the characters were great. And I love the focus on family. There were some pretty steamy scenes as well. Tyler is one of those characters that knows himself. I like that about him. This was my first story by this author. I brought it because it was an interracial romance story, but I loved her writing and I would definitely listen to more of her stories.

I liked the premise of this story, but the execution was off. Spoiler alert, the heroine is married to an abuser. Before joining the alien commune she was given an opportunity to be zapped so she could forget where the aliens were if she decided not to go through with the alien mating, But it never came up as an option when her spouse was trying to tell ppl about the secret government compound where the aliens were. Why not zap him? There was a pretty obvious disconnect with that one. Also, I didn’t care too much for the whole abusive spouse theme. There was an entire confrontation scene, which I felt was not only unrealistic, but a bit over the top. For me it just put a damper on the entire story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure there are some women who might read this and feel empowered by it because they’ve gone through similar circumstances, but it just wasn’t to my taste. At the end of the story, it was disclosed that this was a part of a Kindle novella series. I’m not as familiar with the Novella style on Kindle, but it said that there were episodes coming out three times a week. Perhaps the novella format cased this story to be rushed and not as well executed as it could’ve been .

Great addition to the story. I really love all of these characters. The narrator for Emily is a bit over the top for me. Emily is supposed to be from Harlem, but this lady sounds southern with an exaggerated sensuality in her voice that’s nerve wracking. The story is still worth it. The writing is top tier.

This story was one big cat and mouse chase. It was long and although good, it had me on edge for way too long Emily was doing waaay too much. The outcome of which was sad and unpleasant. I found it ironic that the Corsican and Kazamir were in similar situations yet Kaz could not understand his pov. I came away from this story liking the Corsican. Some of the dialogue by the French women was a bit too Americanized. Good story but a bit too long for my taste. It was like watching a 7 hour chase scene at the movies.

This series is absolutely enthralling. 1-3 actually included 3.5 so you really get four stories. The writing is top tier. It flowed and was very descriptive. If you like blazing sex scenes, you will love these stories. Some times I get tired of love scenes but not between the Lion and Emily. Whew chile it was very satisfying. The story had such great details. My only issue was the narrator. The male did a great Russian and female voice. The female sounded like Whoopi Goldberg. Emily is supposed to be in her early 20’s, but sounds like a 60 year old smoker with a cold especially in Book 3. I can’t wait to listen to the next stories in this series. Kazimir is strong, sexy and down right poetic. Him and Emily are quickly becoming my favorite couple. Narrator be damned, get this story!!!

I love a blue stocking heroine. Nora and Johnny were such a treat. This is a wonderful addition to the series. The narrator was a bit slow for my taste, but when I listened at 1.2x it was well paced. There were surprises up to the very end! I look forward to the next one in the series.

I’ve tried three times to get through this book. I just can’t. The characters weren’t very interesting. The reason for a Duke to be in the ghetto wasn’t very plausible. And the heroines voice was weird. It really grated on my nerves so bad I had to stop listening.

This series has not disappointed. I loved the memoir readings. They were steamy and sensual without being overly sexual. Loretta’s prose NEVER fails to leave me enraptured. So far this is been one of the best theories I’ve read, and I look forward to the next one. This story has a lot of time hopping. It probably makes sense in the book, but caught me off guard a few times while listening. However, it does not take away from this book in the slightest. It’s basically giving us a backstory of what happened to the couple and how they got to where they are. It was very well done. All in all I enjoyed how complete this story was.

10’s across the board. It’s rare for me to read a story that gets the hero and heroine right. The Heroine had a J.O.B and she’s good at it. Daisy/Marguerite is smart, sensible and sexually confident. The hero (Bishop) has a savior complex(for good reason). But he matches well with a heroine who doesn’t need saving. They are one of my favorite couples. I love a man we can express himself. Bishop was sexy and funny. What he meant to do for good came back to bit him. There is a secondary romance in the novel which was sweet and unexpected.
The prose in this book made my heart sing. I had to rewind several time because I enjoyed the phrasing of the words. It was so lush and descriptive. Like a decadent dessert. Well done. I think Kate Reading did a wonderful job bringing all the characters to life. I did listen this story on 1.2x the speed and that seemed to be the sweet spot. Great story! A must read.
