It might be a little bit slower at the start. But WOW, that does not last long. Probably some of the most thought provoking teachings yet.

I’m not really sure where the title comes in though.

Finally, a book about keeping a comfortable home while honoring and caring for yourself as well. Being a neurodivergent woman I can appreciate her advice even more. I’m sure putting at least some of it to work for myself will be a more realistic goal than most of the other books on keeping your home organized and clean I have read.

KC is a realist! She makes it so much easier to be a realist in your own right.

I think this guy gets off on telling stories of these horrific physical traumatic events. I know that’s my first response and probably deserves a bit of rethink. For people who have been terrorized by these awful physical traumatic events, first let me say how much compassion I have for you. Not empathy, definitely not pity. I can hold compassion even though I had never experienced these types of physical traumas. Mine are all emotional trauma. Therefore, I cannot tolerate listening to horrific tales of acts and experiences that no living being should ever have to experience, let alone be tormented by so many painful memories. It all makes me want to sit down and cry. Having very clear images of the awful things that the people discussed in this book went through is just too much. I cannot fathom why living beings would do these things to other living beings. Why do they cause such suffering? Probably because they too suffer.

If your trauma is emotional, mental, behavioral without the physical acts a part of the experience, I would strongly recommend you find another book on how our bodies hold on to the trauma in our lives. This book might only disturb you.

The author uses many examples of how women would snap themselves out of overthinking. She would use words that were yelled by the woman, like "Shut up" and "Stop it". To me this exemplifies a very harsh expression of the message that the over thinker deserves to be yelled at in a negative manner. The advice would have been much better received had she utilized examples that demonstrated kindness towards yourself, non-judgemental tones and expressions.
The book tackles tough subject for women. Some of us do overthink and get caught up in the negative self messages often found in those storms of thought. Still, there was something missing in it for me personally. The main turn off being the negative statements and tone she uses in the book to demonstrate how to get out of a state of rumination and negative self talk.

I have listened to many of Brené's books and two main topics are repeated in all of them. The topic of shame and the topic of vulnerability.
But In each book, the two main characters are surrounded by other supporting characters that are unique to that specific book. Don't worry that each book will be just like her others, because they're not. They each bring a message of how we can improve our life's work and how we can contribute to those we love and those who just watch us do what we do in our lives. The message builds me up bit by bit and book by book. The subjects of shame and vulnerability being raised in each book are definitely worth repeating.
