Surprisingly Good book

The book began splendidly, yet I found my interest waning in the middle. Nevertheless, the compelling writing, narrative, and conclusion make it a highly recommended read.

Story
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Long & tedious

I know I may be in the minority here, but I absolutely couldn't wait for this book to end! In my humble opinion, it should've been half its size. Those never-ending, excruciatingly detailed sections just dragged on and on until they lost their relevance. While it started out great, offering fascinating insights into an unfamiliar culture's past history, as it progressed, there was nothing remotely extraordinary about it. It turned into an agonizingly dull saga that seemed to go on for absolutely no reason, with no sensational point at the end. I must admit, I was truly relieved when it was finally over! 📚😫

Couldn’t wait for it to finish!

Remarkably redundant with a feeble storyline that incessantly meanders. The initial chapter introduces the entire plot, yet the entirety of the book revolves ceaselessly around the same theme, ad infinitum. As you approach the conclusion, you find yourself disinterested in the outcome, yearning only for the torment to cease.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

In order to enjoy this book you have to be familiar with the authors writing style. It’s a bumpy start but the book gets better and better with every chapter. The narrator is amazing! I would recommend this book.
