Story
So often, Africa has been depicted simplistically as a uniform land of famines and safaris, poverty and strife, stripped of all nuance. In this bold and insightful book, Dipo Faloyin offers a much-needed corrective, weaving a vibrant tapestry of stories that bring to life Africa's rich diversity, communities, and histories. Starting with an immersive description of the lively and complex urban life of Lagos, Faloyin unearths surprising truths about many African countries' colonial heritage and tells the story of the continent's struggles with democracy through seven dictatorships.

I was instantly swept up by the language of the story and the way the author explains and shares his experiences of his home is overwhelming. Shakespeare would be proud of this writing.

Story
In November 1864, just days after the reelection of President Abraham Lincoln, General William T. Sherman vowed to "make Georgia howl." The hero of Shiloh and his 65,000 Federal troops destroyed the great city of Atlanta, captured Savannah, and cut a wide swath of destruction through Georgia and the Carolinas on their way to Virginia. A scorched-earth campaign that continues to haunt the Southern imagination, Sherman's "March to the Sea" and ensuing drive north was a crucial turning point in the War between the States.

War, as it should be done. War, as it must be done. General Sherman is my favorite Civil War General. although General Sherman fought a harsh campaign he ended it with liberal surrender terms. An honor returned by his defeated foe at Sherman’s funeral. A good book about a great man.

Story
We face a dilemma these days. We want to be honest about our history and the racism and oppression that Americans have both inflicted and endured. But we want to be proud of our country, too. In The Nation That Never Was, Roosevelt shows how we can do both those things by realizing we’re not the country we thought we were. Reconstruction, Roosevelt argues, was not a fulfillment of the ideals of the Founding but rather a repudiation: we modern Americans are not the heirs of the Founders but of the people who overthrew and destroyed that political order.

My life has been wanting to understand. Thanks to Newton, we mostly can understand the motion of most of what we can see. But all that we can see is made up of what we can not see.
This book explains some of what we can not see but does exist. And brings it to a level we can better understand. And does it in a way that will not either scare you off , or insult your intelligence.

This book can "Make America Great Again"
Reviewed: 01-05-18
Would you listen to Fire and Fury again? Why?
Like others I purchased this book (and encouraged others to do so also), to protect my 1st amendment rights.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Donald Trump - I had hoped to better understand our President. No one could truly be as bad as I thought he was. I was wrong.
What about Michael Wolff and Holter Graham ’s performance did you like?
The way they make you forget that they are there.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This movie can "Make America Great Again"
Any additional comments?
Thank you G-d, thank you ... And G-d bless America, UNITED we stand.
