Meh, Obvious Even to Those with Asperger's

I struggle with influencing people. Most of all the tips in this book are very obvious and explained more on a macro level instead of a micro level. I feel like these are general principals you might teach your kid and might sometimes be a good reminder. However, nothing in this book inticed me or empowered me well enough to go out and put these principals into practice any moreso than before I read the book.

One for almost every couple!

Two to three amazing insights left me with that "aha" feeling strong enough to inspire me to infuse it with my current self and relationships. In this episode Esther identifies and describes how resentment and shame about how a relationship started can be projected into how you feel and treat your partner, overshadowing the appreciation and love. She discusses how hiding the obvious creates a space of silence, preventing those around you from connecting due to their fear of discomforting you with conversation that could lead into your discomfort zone. She also discusses how a parent/child relationship between two adults will kill intimacy and she points out the dynamics of how one can trigger the other into the role that can lead into a constant back and forth reaction.

the only thing I didn't like it that Esther didn't entertain that the guy simple lacked a desire for his wife and that maybe in the beginning the desire was filled by the novelty of her and not "her".

Story
At some point in nearly every marriage, a wife finds herself asking, "What is wrong with my husband?!" In David Finch's case, this turns out to be an apt question. Five years after he married Kristen, the love of his life, they learn that he has Asperger syndrome. The diagnosis explains David's ever-growing list of quirks and compulsions, his lifelong propensity to quack and otherwise melt down in social exchanges, and his clinical-strength inflexibility. But it doesn't make him any easier to live with.
