Quick interesting and fun listen
Reviewed: 07-25-21
The story is a typical power fantasy tailored for a younger Korean audience, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. The story has heavy video game influences as well as a protagonist with anime level intuition.
Pros:
The author is taking his time introducing and setting up supporting characters which is often rushed these days.
Fun story with a protagonist with clear motives and a curious mind that challenges human protocols by testing and pushing limits.
Cons:
Magic system seems a little flawed by not being completely flushed out and that the protagonists magic system seem completely different than the world he lives in.
Protagonist is a little righteous with his actions. Despises killing but doesn’t have a second thought when he does kill
The sound effects by the narrator are okay but honestly could be left out. And come so often that they start to be annoying
Overall good listen as long as you’re not expecting some great intellectual story. Have fun and let the world consume your imagination.

A bunch of fables rolled into one book

I want to start out by saying I am a big fan of hard work and typically enjoy books about it that being said this book is overly simplistic on its lessons. i felt like a child being lectured by their parent how good work pays off. We a;ll know hard work pays off but going from problem to answer cheapens the message of hard work. The karate kid (the original) isnt good because he was shown karate once and then he understands it, its great because he struggles through and finally reaches a break through. If you are looking for motivation this book will more than likely motivate you, but you will not gain any inspiration from it.

A man broken by despair and depression, Grant Legate finds himself in a once-in-a-lifetime situation after receiving an Ultimate Edition copy of Continue Online. All he wishes for is a distraction from the thoughts plaguing his waking hours. He dives in headfirst, unknowing of the AI's intentions. They offer him the chance to play as one of their own, a NPC deserving of a proper send off. What he discovers during the journey shakes Grant to his very core.

Frustratingly good

Continue online line creates a wonderful world that shines light on humanity inside games the world Morse created seems like a very deep and wonderful world that I just want to explore more and more, unfortunately the reader barely gets to explore this world in the book because we are confined to the main characters interpersonal struggle that doesn't really go anywhere. When listening to the book all I truly want to do is leave the main character and go explore this amazing world Morse created.

Interesting but frustrating

Any additional comments?
At times the book feels overly juvenile. Details such as naming their currency soul dollars and catch phrases like "Thunder" seemed to detract from this oddly satisfying yet frustrating story. Jakins has created a very interesting world that begs to be discovered, but lacks substance at times. The book is very entertaining.
