Firstly, the audio portion of the book is phenomenal. Lila does a great job of bringing you into the story, giving the characters their own voice both in accent and tone.

The story itself is engrossing for the most party, but Christ almighty there is so much alliteration in Aron’s use of adjectives that it is distracting. It pulled me right out of the action to think “did we really need 3 adjectives all beginning with the letter G?”

Also, the sex kinda detracts from the plot in my opinion.

Classic Shapiro, Steep Decline in Narration

Pros:
Another good mystery, bonus twist at the end, good dialogue

Cons:
Don’t like the change in how Jameson behaves for much of the story even if the reasoning is understandable

The narrator change threw me off but I wrote it off to being change. As the story went on, I only grew to dislike the new voice actor more. Voices (other than Shapiro) we’re all terrible in their own way.

This is a well written and wonderfully acted modern rendition of Lord of the Flies. I came from the horror/comedy genre and this was a great change of pace.

Eugene is one my favorite character in literature. Also, the voice acting is spot on throughout the 3 books.

This is one of the few books I’ve listened to where the narrator added to the experience. Each character had their own unique voice that did justice to the unique personalities created by Jason Pargin.

Fantastic through and through.
