Story
A new marriage. A perfect home. A machine that says it’s all a lie. Welcome to Silicon Valley, where the weather is perfect, the income is high … and Rowena Snyder is miserable. A transplant from New York, Rowena moved into her husband Jacob’s idyllic childhood home with their new baby. But suburbia isn’t Rowena’s cup of Starbucks. And she’s got serious anxiety and depression to boot. Jacob, worried about their marriage, scores a new product currently in beta testing from his tech job: Maxine, a “digital friend” that bonds with an individual by continually gathering their personal data.

I had so much hope but it was bad
Reviewed: 03-29-24
I saw a tik tok review and was super excited to read this book but was super disappointed. I love the voice of the narrator and the way the story started but it just took a turn that was bad and made the sorry just awful. The random hints at things never came together so therefore were pointless. Not a good book

Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

This book was easy to follow but many things in this book had no point to them. The whole story itself was very pointless. I’m assuming this is supposed to have female empowerment but I think this was just A waste of time and credit

Not my usual read
Reviewed: 06-22-23
I decided to give this book a try although it’s not a thriller (which I usually prefer) but this book was just a very realistic “feel good” book. Although it takes places in the 1940’s, I could still relate to all characters. The book doesn’t have any “slow” or “boring” parts to it and it sucks you right in! Very well written.

Story
Early one morning on the shore of the Thames, DCI Samuel Owusu is called to the scene of a gruesome discovery. When Owusu sends the evidence for examination, he learns the bones are connected to a cold case that left three people dead on the kitchen floor in a Chelsea mansion thirty years ago. Rachel Rimmer has also received a shock—her husband, Michael, has been found dead in the cellar of his house in France. All signs point to an intruder, and the French police need her to come urgently to answer questions about Michael and his past that she very much doesn’t want to answer.

There are mutiple separate stories going on and I waited for them to meet at the end and they surely did not. So disappointing. I could have thought of many other ways to finish this book and make it make good. Don’t waste your time. Trying to read the good reviews and really can’t see how ppl were satisfied.

Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil coparenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date. But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.

Predictable

The story is very predictable but very easy to listen too and the voices for the characters. There are no twists or shockers, just a good story that you’ll want to hear more of.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Im not into fantasy so once I read the description, I was no longer going to read this book. My friend and I listen to a lot of the same books and she encouraged me to give it a try. This book is good from the first line down to the end. It challenges one’s imagination to the core and it was great.
