Story
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

Even if I read this in a printed form, I would continue to hear the voice of the narrator. He is perfect for this series.
Great story and Skippy continues to be his awesome AH self.

Story
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Story
Gav isn't really sure how he ended up with a castle full of goblins, or why he has a princess locked in a cell. All he can do is play along with his own evil plan in hopes of getting his memories back before he gets himself killed. But as he realizes that nothing—from the incredibly tasteless cloak adorned with flames to the aforementioned princess—is quite what it seems, Gav must face up to all the things the Dread Lord Gavrax has done. And he'll have to answer the hardest question of all—who does he want to be?

Great story, well-plotted, crisp characters. I disliked the performer’s attempt at the princess’s voice, but extra-liked Gav’s voice so it evened out.

Magical Gay Murder Cruise (but Funny and Charming)
Reviewed: 11-28-24
Engaging characters, lovely world-building, tightly plotted murder cruise with magical abilities, coming of age drama, and magical house dragons that poof glitter and a sense of humor and wonder made for a great read.
I wanted the mc to utilize his house dragon better but this story is otherwise very tight.
Really very impressive (especially for a first book) and I am eager for more from this author. Great performance, too.

Story
Beth Pickering is on the verge of finally capturing the rare deathwhistler bird when Professor Devon Lockley swoops in, stealing both her bird and her imagination like a villain. Albeit a handsome and charming villain, but that's beside the point. As someone highly educated in the ruthless discipline of ornithology, Beth knows trouble when she sees it, and she is determined to keep her distance from Devon.

Great academic regency romance with tongue firmly in cheek
Reviewed: 11-17-24
Loved this tour de force send up of romantic tropes and the academic frenzy surrounding a search for a magical bird in Victorian England and France. Featuring well-drawn characters and a neurospicy brainy heroine, a gallant and charming hero, and horrible bird snatching bad guys and a passel of moral-free journalists.
An excellent performance as well.
Well done!

Thoughtful addition to the series - great narration
Reviewed: 06-10-23
Excellent narration helps to keep the characters distinct. This book feels lighter than the heavy themes of the first 3, with an interesting sub-plot about a princex of the space pirates show that sounds highly entertaining.
Though this book is a standalone story, it takes place the the Radch universe, and is a good entry to the series if you can handle some gore. It explores the Presger translators, so delightfully NOT human, asking interesting questions about gender, being human, mercy, marriage and so on.
The Heinlein stan inside me loved the dimensional noodliness.

Miss Mildred Percy, former wallflower and current adventurer, is now in charge of a dragon. Along with Mr. Wiggan and Mrs. Babbinton—our stalwart companions from the first volume of Miss Percy’s adventures—she embarks on a journey across Wales, in search of the mysterious Nyth y Ddraig, or Nest of Dragons. But traveling with a young dragon in an unfamiliar land proves more difficult than anticipated.

Entertaining dragon story ala Heyers
Reviewed: 05-20-23
Unusual characters chase across the difficult landscape of Wales, searching for a home for their unexpected dragon. An older spinster misused by her sister as free childcare in 1800s England runs off with the parson and his make-do housekeeper to Wales. Well written take of her awakening to her purpose and power. But written like a Georgette Heyer romance. Enjoyable.
Great performance brings the characters alive. Looking forward to #3.

Story
Keeping a hibernating dragon should have been a simple thing. Should have been, but it was not. Apparently, nothing involving dragons was ever simple, at least not for Anne Elliot, junior keeper to dragon Kellynch. With the estate in debt, Anne’s father in denial, and the dragon’s treasure missing, Kellynch’s awakening is shaping up to be nothing short of catastrophe. Not to mention, there was the pesky matter of her own broken heart and resentment against the old friend who had caused it.
