About this listen

THE TIKTOK SENSATION FROM THE UK HAS COME TO NORTH AMERICA!

“Magical, murderous, romantic romp through a fantasy world as colorful as it is captivating.” Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of THE HURRICANE WARS

A mind-blowing murder mystery on a ship full of magical passengers. If Agatha Christie wrote fantasy, this would be it!

For a thousand years, Concordia has maintained peace between its provinces. To mark this incredible feat, the emperor’s ship embarks upon a twelve-day voyage to the sacred Goddess’s Mountain. Aboard are the twelve heirs of the provinces of Concordia, each graced with a unique and secret magical ability known as a Blessing.

All except one: Ganymedes Piscero—class clown, slacker and all-around disappointment.

When a beloved heir is murdered, everyone is a suspect. Stuck at sea and surrounded by powerful people and without a Blessing to protect him, Ganymedes’s odds of survival are slim.

But as the bodies pile higher, Ganymedes must become the hero he was not born to be. Can he unmask the killer and their secret Blessing before this bloody crusade reaches the shores of Concordia?

Or will the empire as he knows it fall?

Twists and turns and I didn’t see that coming

Absolutely not what I expected. Part mystery, part self discovery; alternate funny and heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like this before. So many twists and unexpected revelations, some I guessed correctly; others I got completely wrong. I will be thinking about this for a while yet.

A Wickedly delightful tale 🐠

I loved this book from chapter one. It was nothing like anything I’ve read before, and I eat books for breakfast.
This writer has the best sense of humor, Her descriptions had me laughing out loud constantly, and I’ve already recommended this book to at least a handful of people since finishing it this morning. I’m not sure a book has made me feel that good in a long time. What a treat! Oh, and I did NOT see that twist coming btw… it’s a for sure re-read for me !

Excellent main character, great world-building

This checks all my boxes and then some…such a satisfying read, and the narration is fab.

Fantastic Voyage

Frances White has created the most intriguing, multi-layered fantasy mystery I've ever encountered. Nathan Foad is brilliant in his narration. An absolute blast, highly recommend!

So Much Potential…Wasted

The premise of this novel was intriguing and the first half read like a pretty good first novel attempt. However in the second half the author simply foundered. I found myself saying out loud “Excuse me, what?” several times.
Such a disappointment.

SO GOOD

What initially drew me in was how funny the lead character was & honestly i would have loved this book even if that was the only thing it had going for it… but it was not. This was an amazing story, great dialogue, beautiful world building that I could visualize but wasn’t overly intense, lots of fun twists to the plot that weren’t predictable, and the narrator added the exact right personality to the character… the whole experience was magical. I just finished it and want to read it all over again.

I’m just disappointed that this is the only novel currently on audible by this author, I will pick up their next one without question, I’m officially a fan :)

Great Speaker!

I got the audiobook to the special edition book and I’m glad I listened to it while reading (partially) because while the story started strong, the speaker saved the score to 4/5 stars!

Fantastic twists and turns

This book threw me to the undertow and I never came up. It was so much fun to read. I would love to read more from the author.
