Story
They say never bargain with the fae. They also say don’t get drunk on fae wine. Yet romance author Edwina Danforth has managed a blunder with both on her first visit to the infamous faelands. Now she's trapped in a magic-fueled bet she barely remembers with a man she’d be happier to forget. The terms? Whoever can bed the most lovers during their month-long dueling book tour wins a coveted publishing contract. The win should be easy for Edwina. She’s known for penning scintillating tales of whirlwind romance. There’s just one problem: her imagination vastly exceeds her bedroom experience.

Unlikeable "heroine"
Reviewed: 02-04-25
The main female character was immature, self-centered, and unlikeable. I really dislike books that seem to normalize childish and insecure behavior/beliefs in women.

Nothing redeeming

REALLY struggled to finish. Kept thinking it HAD to get better but never did. Completely unlikable heroine, slightly better hero but his attraction to her is never explained as anything other than her looks. Sisters seemed ok. I'll make sure to avoid this author in future.

From New York Times best-selling author Julia London comes the second novel in her irresistibly romantic Desperate Debutantes trilogy, in which three suddenly destitute aristocratic young ladies must resort to desperate means to keep up appearances...and find the husbands of their dreams.

Worst Julia London ever read/heard
Reviewed: 04-24-21
The heroine is completely unlikable, naive, etc. She's a stupid stereotype woman who "loves" but doesn't trust while believing a man who has been demonstrated to be untrustworthy. I found no redeeming qualities and no reason the hero would be interested in her other than her physical presence.

Story
When Aurelie Harcourt's father dies in debtor's prison, he leaves her just two things: his wealthy family, whom she has never met, and his famous pen name, Nathaniel Droll. Her new family greets her with apathy and even resentment. Only the quiet houseguest, Silas Rotherham, welcomes her company. When Aurelie decides to complete her father's unfinished serial novel, she must keep her identity as Nathaniel Droll hidden while searching for the truth about her mother's disappearance - and perhaps even her father's death.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 02-27-21
From the synopsis I expected a mystery. Instead it was a fairly insipid romance with an unlikeable female lead and a heavy addition of Christianity.
