Story
A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far - a book about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes King introduced in Mr. Mercedes. "Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades.

masterful storytelling. It’s uncommon to find a sequel that lives up to the previous book, Especially when the first book was fantastic. Stephen does it with this novel. I’m looking forward to the third novel in the trilogy!

Well written books seem harder and harder to find these days but S King is one of the best. The narration is wonderful, good pacing, smooth changes from one character to the next, etc.

this book is boring, predictable, sappy, excessively wordy, just plain bad. Way too many characters, all of which have two if not three names, and quite a few don’t even need to be in the book - they’re completely unnecessary. I’ve recommended this author to other people before and I really hope that they don’t read this book, that would be so embarrassing.

Couldn’t stand most of this book.
Reviewed: 09-08-23
I finished it just because I like to finish what I start. But the book was just a jumble of sub-plots that generally went nowhere. ppl disliked other ppl for no reason. I’m sick & tired of the know-it-all, bossy, nosy, b____y, grandma who everybody inexplicably loves. Both Billy and Jam, and John, were left out of this book! The whole plot about the “Wolf” was ridiculous, and they didn’t even catch him! But mostly I absolutely HATE the freaking background music randomly added to some of the chapters. STOP IT! I want to hear the book, not somebody’s terrible idea of playing classical, marching band, or whatever kind of music they have decided to add to the book. Agghhh😡😡! I also can’t stand it when the narrator changes from a normal voice to the kind you’d expect from a haunted house, in order to say the next Chapter name. Why?? Anyway, I suggest you skip this book, you’ll have missed nothing that moves the series along. Oh, except that Alex’ son’s mother, who deserted her baby son Ali a YEAR ago, shows up and demands full custody. Alex, Ali’s father, claims his heart is broken but he’s a total wuss and just cries and hands his son over. Over my dead body!

It seems straightforward enough: Get a foot in the door by posing as a potential investor in a lucrative underground business—then bring the place down from the inside. There’s more here than meets the eye. What it triggers in Nameless is uncontrollable rage and brutal retribution. What it reveals is a clue to his forgotten past. Is it a breach on his handler’s part? Or a test? Either way, something’s not right.

this novel was total waste of time. i repeatedly fell asleep trying to finish it (i’m not sure why i tortured myself this way, maybe a little OCD?). Anyway, a man with no name gets vague instructions from vague agencies/people to go do vague “mission” for unknown reason. There’s no suspense, curiosity, moral lesson, growth or change by the main (basically the ONLY) character) no humor, etc. Truly terrible unless you are trying to sleep. Narrator doesn’t do anything that improves the book but I’ll give him a partial break because he really didn’t have much to work with.
