Like sitting with the greatest storyteller

Sharon McMahon’s narration of The Small and the Mighty gives a new level of understanding to this book. If you read the print version, do not miss hearing her read it to you as well. It’s like sitting at the kitchen table over a cup of coffee with a great storyteller, one who wants you to know and understand each historical character, their motivation, and the outcome of their life, and how it changed everything. Sharon talks about each of them as if they are old friends, and she wants you to meet them too. Her genuine warmth towards each of these small yet mighty world changers is evident, as she steers your own heart towards loving their spirits and accomplishments and understanding how life in the USA would be very different, were it not for these brave and persistent individuals. This is a fantastic work of literary genius, made even better by the author’s own narration of her work. Bravo, Sharon!

I didn't want this book to end.
22 hours of brilliant research & writing by Isabel Wilkerson and moving narration by Robin Miles.
The history we were not taught, and on such a personal level - I was so invested in each of the 3 migrant families chronicled, with tears welling upon hearing how each life moved into eternity.
Don't skip this Pulitzer Prize winner.

Authentic and so real, this is a story of triumph. I laughed, I cried and I learned something about not just Nicole, but about myself as she shared lessons from her life I could apply to mine. If you follow Nicole, hearing her story in her voice is a must! Brilliant.

Changing your life is no small task, but Mel breaks it down into digestible chunks of information. Citing the science makes it even better. Sure, this isn’t new info, and you could google this stuff… but feeling like you are sitting across from Mel at her kitchen table is the best way I’ve found to take in life changing info. I’ll be listening again, starting tomorrow.
