Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I never write reviews and this will be short, but this story is unlike any other. Much much better than the Martian, the combination of science and the human/alien relationship make this a stand-out, one of a kind story. Highly highly recommend!

narrator ruined the story
Reviewed: 02-26-19
The advsnced age of the narrator was apparent in his performance of this story, and his range was restricted to either man or woman. The men all sounded like they were in their seventies and impossible to discriminate one from the other. The women suffered the same lack of variance, and all in all this really detracted from the story. From the character development it seems like this could be the beginning of a good series, if and only if, they replace the narrator with someone with a lot more vocal range.

Keep your finger on the volume!
Reviewed: 09-05-18
The main difficulty I had with this book was with the narrator. Although he had a lovely warm voice, he made no distinction between the male and female characters. As there was almost no pause or signal that there was a change of chapter, I had difficulty figuring out who was talking. I had to rewind many times before I could figure it out. Also, the narrator shouts and whispers so much, that I had to continually adjust the volume which was difficult when I was listening in bed. The story itself was interesting and well written, but the narration spoiled it somewhat for me.
