Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. Hannah brings details into focus of the tragic Vietnam era. Her timeline connects many events occurring in the “great American experiment“ concurrently and how the roles women were undermined as a consequence.

The narrator apparently wasn’t enthused about the book. Someone with a better understanding of the contexts would help differentiate the psychotic character from the victim. They’re often confused in this narrative.

We are stuck, stymied, frustrated. But it needn't be this way. There is a formula for success that's been followed by the icons of history - from John D. Rockefeller to Amelia Earhart to Ulysses S. Grant to Steve Jobs - a formula that let them turn obstacles into opportunities. Faced with impossible situations, they found the astounding triumphs we all seek.

Can reading Greek philosophers at an early age cause reading disorders? Ryan has solved that problem for all future generations. My first editor of Seneca was The Harvard Classics. Now Ryan Holiday makes clear the tools Seneca and Marcus Aurelius applied themselves. Holiday gives us a strategy to assess, define what we control and, with that, practice the means within to proceed on beyond expectations.

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Don’t forget to say goodbye with gratitude
Reviewed: 03-28-19
Marie Kondo and her gracious teachings are everything I loved most about Japan when I lived there shortly as a child. The Japanese we knew were courteous, gracious and very tidy, for sure.
The Kondomari method is the essence of living in a joyful environment when you follow her technique from the front door of your home to the last grandma’s tea cup.
I was devastated to know someone was willing to dispose of their tea ceremony set, but Marie would tell her that was her own decision.
I reread Kondo’s book before I start a new category for encouragement and attention to the discarding “ceremony “. Gratitude is part healing and part learning about yourself.

Bill Homewood's performance of Dumas' masterpiece was as intended to my imagination. Like a perfect partner in a dance, he lead my mind across the pages in perfect cadence expressing every feeling and emotion of each character.
I recommend scheduling intermissions ahead of listening periods for this book because, without discipline, putting down this book is very difficult.
Thank you Audible. The journey was a pleasure.

I was way too preoccupied with my own life during this era to see the movies and television programs in Lowe's stories. If you didn't read People Magazine either, this book is a great social psychological study of that post-Boomer generation of pop-culture on unleashed hormones. The results were great comedy, movie classics and volumes of psych rehab texts forwomen about men and every compulsion imaginable. I recommend a pen and paper for those movie titles you missed.

I gifted the printed version to a sixteen year old foster boy, then realized I didn't remember the details well enough to do random gifting with it. I listened for a second time and was very pleased with the choice. To some young man out there: read it. Please, please read this quirky, wise and wonderful book from your mysterious Santa Lady.

A Must Read for Early Adolescent Males
Reviewed: 11-07-12
What did you like best about Courageous? What did you like least?
A jaw-dropping young police officer once told me he and his colleagues went to "choir practice" every Wednsday after work. I was looking for religious connections at the time; I took him litterally. I would have devoured this book at that time, but I'm just of the wrong population to appreciate it today.
Has Courageous turned you off from other books in this genre?
Sorry, I don't know which genre this would be in. Teens? Self development? Fiction?
Have you listened to any of Roger Mueller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Was Courageous worth the listening time?
Sure.
Any additional comments?
I did enjoy being entertained with a minimum of profanity and loads of positive inspiration. Roger Mueller was perfect for this work.
