Story
From his first novel – Less Than Zero – published when he was still a college student – to his most recent – the fierce American Psycho, Bret Easton Ellis has been a powerful and original presence in contemporary literature, whether giving voice to a previously inchoate generation or provoking a controversy that raged throughout the culture. Now he takes a quantum leap forward: an awesome reckoning of the American Century at endgame. In Glamorama, a young man in what is recognizably fashion and celebrity-obsessed Manhattan is gradually, imperceptibly drawn into a shadowy looking-glass of that society, there and in London and Paris, and then finds himself trapped on the other side, in a much darker place where fame and terrorism and family and politics are inextricably linked and sometimes indistinguishable. At once implicated and horror-stricken, his ways of escape blocked at every turn, he ultimately discovers – back on the other, familiar side – that there was no mirror, no escape, no world but this one in which hotels implode and planes fall from the sky.

Wow

I was not expecting this to be so similar yet so different.
American Psycho was good. But this book was a masterpiece.
I felt transported back to the 1990s. The absurdities of 90s consumerism contrasted with American Psycho focus on the 80s is perfect.

Amazing Book - Amazing Narrator

The book is very well written, and it reads like a long list of interesting facts cobbled together into a very detailed storyline about what Enron was all about.
I like how it focused LESS on specific people at Enron, and more on events and broader strategy that made Enron what it was.
The narrator's voice makes it even more enjoyable. Will probably listen to it again. 10/10

Story
This intimate biography is the first to focus on Lawrence in his twenties, the untold story of the awkward archaeologist from Oxford who, on first visiting the East, fell in love with Arab culture and found his life's mission. Few people realize Lawrence's classic autobiography, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, was not the first book to carry that iconic title. Lawrence himself burned his original draft. Anthony Sattin here uncovers the story Lawrence wanted to conceal.

I got this book because I wanted to know the story of the long career climb that put Steve Bannon in a position to help make Donald Trump president. I was not disappointed.
Most books focus exclusively on Trump’s campaign strategies, which are interesting, but fail to explain the story behind Bannon’s rose.
I’m personally much more interested in hearing the steps Bannon took to become a political kingmaker - which is something the author here explains perfectly.
Great book. Highly recommended.

Story
Every new project (or job, or hobby, or company) starts out exciting and fun. Then it gets harder and less fun, until it hits a low point: really hard, and not much fun at all. And then you find yourself asking if the goal is even worth the hassle. Maybe you're in a Dip: a temporary setback that you will overcome if you keep pushing. But maybe it's really a Cul-de-Sac, which will never get better, no matter how hard you try.
