Story
When 30-year-old Kate’s childhood sweetheart dumps her without a goodbye, she almost hits rock bottom. But she’s determined to have a fresh start and goes to Italy’s stunning capital city in search of healing. Hot sun, fresh coffee and white marble piazzas; here, Kate might be able to put herself back together. But when a glass (or three) more wine than is strictly necessary leads to questioning by a concerned policeman – a tall, Italian policeman, with wavy, black hair and cheekbones to die for – she knows she’s in trouble.

Very heartwarming story

Cute story, I loved that there was a thread of independence woven into both a family story and a love story in this book. It really shows positive and strong female character, development and relationships.

Story
Travis Hale has it all. An important role as the chief of police in the idyllic town of Pelion, Maine. Looks that regularly and consistently make women fall at his feet. Two nephews and a niece he adores, and a family who’s mostly forgiven him after a series of unfortunate decisions years before. Perhaps his past is riddled with regrets and misguided choices, but his future looks bright and limitless. Until the new guy in town crosses him in a way both shocking and indefensible.

Nice story but slow going
Reviewed: 06-26-25
This story, although interesting and sometimes captivating red slow for me and overall with slow moving. The character development was good and the role of a strong independent woman was nice to see in the days of when Pittsburgh became a Steele driven city. Overall, a good Reid.
