I like the storyline. It’s something different than the typical book. If anyone has watched Inuyasha,
this book is a bit like it. The story gets a bit boring, but it is finally starting to pick up after the third book. Which is too long. The series is a bit too long. We will see how the next two books go. I wish there were more Asian stories.

Every end is also a beginning. I thought I was going to die, and would have if it weren't for Slade. The only way he could save me was to open a rip between worlds. The only way for me to save myself was to go through it. Sometimes, fleeing one dangerous place just brings you to another.

With war looming, Emelin's plan is simple: break the Mother's bindings while her more diplomacy-minded friends persuade the rest of the world to join their rebellion. Unfortunately, their would-be allies are far too concerned about Em's exact connection to the feared and hated Silent Death. They might risk their lives for the world's only unbound mage, but they'll never fight for a fae prince's puppet. Forced to hide the explosive secret of their love, Em and Creon journey to the plague-cursed continent to learn more about the bindings.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Awful

I love this series but this book is just terrible. The character of Nesta deserve better. The narrator is terrible as Nesta. I’m sure she’s fine in other roles, but she’s not Nesta. She overacts a lot. The author should rewrite this book and have another narrator. It’s that bad.
So many of us were looking forward to the story of Nesta and Cassian. Nesta is probably the most powerful character in the series and the author does nothing with her. Very disappointing. Not looking forward too the book about Elaine. She will probably make her all moody and mopey about her supposed first love that left her because she became fae. 🙄 I’m definitely not looking forward to a Mor book. Unless, something changes I won’t read anymore books in this series. The author has lost the plot in her own series. Just sad. Also, the book is full of smut. Ridiculous amounts of it. Badly written scenes at that. The book is a mess. I’m surprised it got through her publisher.

Story
Katria swore she'd never fall in love. She's seen what "love" means through the cruelty of her family. So when she's married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she's leaving. Feelings are off the table. But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult. As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae. When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape.
