Story
"Mac" MacTavish impulsively steals his late sister's neglected children, only to discover it's easier to handle a clipper in a hurricane than steer two ornery brats. What he needs is a nanny until he can take the children back to his parents in America. Bea Cavendish has settled for a quiet life of feathering her father's nest - until he dies, and she's left with an estate she doesn't know how to manage. Alone and terrified, she doesn't know what to make of the very big, very angry man appearing at her door with two adorable hooligans in tow.

Terrible narration!
Reviewed: 02-12-21
The only reason why there are two stars is because the storyline was pretty good. I don’t understand why the author felt like she needed to put so much sexual smack in it though. The reader was absolutely terrible! I can’t tell you how many times I was tempted to stop where I was. It was almost painful at times. The star I gave the reader was because i had to give it something to finish the review. It sounded like someone learning to read and not knowing where to put emphasis. The reading didn’t flow. Very choppy. I think you get my point.
I thought the story was original, that’s probably why I continue to listen.

Story
Hazard: A game of Chance and Luck, made riskier when Fate is rolling the dice. For Aristide Delacroix, the first throw summons shades from his past. A man he had met, just once, over a card-table... and the lovely girl indirectly responsible for plunging his life into catastrophe. For Lord Nicholas Wynstanton, tired of waiting for Madeleine Delacroix to make up her mind, it slyly suggests he begin a whole new game with loaded dice; while for Madeleine, it devises a terrifying lesson in missed opportunities and the uncertainty of second chances.

There is not a Stella Riley book that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. Her stories are full of wit, cleverness , and the storyline is always interesting and entertaining . The plot is well done and the narrator is fantastic. I recommend any book you wish to read by this author.

London, 1786. Lord Henri-Antoine has returned from the Grand Tour to a life of privilege and excess. A vast inheritance allows him every indulgence, free from responsibility. Yet, Henri-Antoine maintains a well-ordered existence, going to great lengths to conceal an affliction few understand and many fear. She leads a useful life working among the sick poor.

Reviewed: 07-10-20
I finished the book, however, I believe that was solely due to Alex Wyndham’s narrative, he could make reciting the alphabet over and over again pleasing. I am not interested in any more books by this author. Very distasteful, the male lead was extremely rude and jealous and the female lead was content being a mistress, not my style at all. I’ll be going back to Stella Riley novels.

It is 1813 in London. The Earl of Saint Leven, Lyonel Ashton, doesn't like women, and he's got every reason not to. But fate, in the guise of Aunt Lucia, intervenes. She presents him with Diana Savarol, a young lady newly arrived from her family's Caribbean island and very unhappy at being forced into frigid England and tossed headlong into the marriage market.

Couldn’t finish
Reviewed: 07-10-20
After listening to a good portion of this book, I am really surprised at all the good reviews. I feel that the Earl was very condescending and overbearing and disrespectful… In no way a gentleman, especially for the time. I feel that the story lacked taste and a good plot as well as storyline. The narrator was OK, but I think it added to my distaste of the book. I could not finish which is very rare for me.

I believe this account to be authentic, although there is so much confusion by historian account. You can’t very well dispute actual diaries though, can you? Many accounts of royals are truly disturbing, this one is one of many of them, tragic as it is.
Well worth the read.

Miss Amelia Stalwood may live in London at her absent guardian's townhouse, but she's never actually met any nobility, and instead of aristocrats, her closest friends are servants. Quite by happenstance, she's introduced to the Hawthorne family and their close family friend Anthony, the reformed marquis of Raebourne. They welcome her into their world, but just as she's beginning to gain some confidence and even suspect she may have caught Anthony's eye, she's blindsided by an unexpected twist in her situation accompanied by nasty rumors.

Why, he’ll never even know she is there. Until he shows up in London too, and Cassandra finds herself sharing a house with the most infuriating man in England. Joshua DeWitt has his life exactly how he wants it. He has no need of a wife disrupting everything.

This story had several detail explicit scenes to satisfy your sensual seeking imagination. The story itself was wonderful, but the explicit scenes started to become tiresome. If you’re looking for a clean wholesome romance novel, this isn’t it.

Terrible narration
Reviewed: 12-25-19
This was the worst narrated book I have ever listen to, and I’ve listened to a good many. It sounded like the reader was just learning how to punctuate vocally. The story was good, but because of the narration, was tainted. If i was the author, I would be insulted. It would be better to read this book on your own in my opinion.

This story reminded me much of my favorite novel Jane Eyre. I would highly recommend for a read of pure entertainment and a happy ending.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Beautiful story overall-worth the read
Reviewed: 01-23-19
The story was beautiful. The part I had an issue with was swearwords that I know my friends would be uncomfortable reading or hearing. It took a while for me to get used to the narration, the narrator’s voice for many characters was harsh or brazen and somewhat unnatural, but her accents were extremely well done making the story enjoyable and more bearable. I’m still not sure if the story was based on a real life account or not. I do recommend this book, just be aware of strong language and references to intimacy.
