This one felt less predictable than the first. Audio narration was also less flat and more interestingly done.

Love the story and the characters. Felt real and warm. The narrator did an ok job of things but her pacing was weird.

Saskia Maarleveld puts so much heart into Holt’s words that it was hard to turn this book off. I love knowing that many of the things I love most about Disney are because of these strong women, and more, who fought through so much adversity to succeed.

I couldn’t get past the second one. It was very in depth and she’s very passionate about it, but this wasn’t for me.

This book was a fun memoir about the cremation & funerary business in early 2000s California. It was joyous, sad, gruesome, and not-so-glamorous.

If you took Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and The Beach Boys and put them in a fiction blender, that’s where Daisy Jones & The Six lies. There’s a lot of truth in there, and a lot of heart. It felt real and plausible.
I recently heard there’s a television adaptation coming soon. Interested to see how it works.

When it comes to Earhart conspiracies, there’s thousands of options out there. This links the 2 most common & widespread stories.
While it is very interestingly done, it feels to me like it needed more fleshing out. The jumping between characters was nice, but I think with a wider story, it would not have felt so abrupt.

I honestly knew nothing about Clementine Churchill before starting this book.
It’s a journal-style view of her life from Meeting Winston through the end of WWII. It encompasses their personal and political endeavors, while highlighting the friction and strife of being a woman, let alone a woman of power. Some of the best moments were the emotional family dynamics, layered in with a struggle to balance being a mother and serving her country. It goes to show that all families struggle with addiction, loss, and work-life balance.
Elizabeth Sastre does a great job carrying Clementine’s story, as well as all the family and interim characters. Her portrayals of the Roosevelts were my favorite.

I really enjoyed this layered generational tale of struggle, emotions, and strength. The characters are unique and warm, with lots of interesting connections. I love that it mixes actual true facts in with the fictional tale. Although some of the complexities of brewing may go over some readers’ heads, there’s a good balance, and the minutia of the process blends well with the story.
