About this listen

Mae West, a far cry from the Hollywood actress, has been thrown for a loop. Her plush lifestyle in the big city of New York comes to a screeching halt after the FBI raids her mansion and arrests her husband, Paul West, for a Ponzi scheme that rips people out of millions of dollars.

Mae finds herself homeless, friendless, and penniless. All hope isn't lost... the only thing Mae got to keep that the government didn't seize is a tourist camp ground, Happy Trails, in Normal, Kentucky.

By the look of the brochure, Happy Trails has plush Kentucky Bluegrass, a crystal clear lake, and a beach chair with her name on it. Mae figures she'll take a couple weeks' vacation with her toes dipped in the lake.

Mae quickly finds out that Happy Trails and the citizens of Normal were also victims of Paul's schemes, making her lower than than lake scum in the residents' eyes. Mae doesn't think things could get much worse, but as luck would have it, Paul West has escaped from prison and is found dead, murdered, floating in the Happy Trails lake.

Time is running out for Mae to prove that she's innocent and nothing like her husband. If only she could get someone to believe her before the curtain is closed on this Hollywood namesake.

It was entertaining but not terrible exciting. Also I wasn’t a big fan of the narrator.

Decent but a little predictable

I like the story plot. It shows that life can be tough, however, we can rise above. We have interactions with people and it matters. I like the who done it. I was surprised by the ending. A good read.

Worth your time.

I really liked that the setting took place in the South, and an RV campground, a diner, and old fashioned southern hospitality. The main character had gone back to her southern roots! I had to keep listening to the audiobook, the voices and characters were well voiced. It was a positive story despite the murder, it was a very good mystery with a surprise twist. If you love RV camping, the south, and a murder mystery, this one is for you! I can’t wait to start the next one in the series! My family and I have a 5th wheel trailer, and we sure have great times in it going to all kinds of places!

Adventure Awaits!

this book was really good.the only big downside for me is not meeting the killer til basically the end. I like to be able to choose who I think did it by like halfway. kinda took that fun out of it. besides that I really enjoyed it.

spoiler-ish?

Not the best book. Plot is not the deepest. it's a good one to listen to when you cannot pay close attention because it's predictable enough that you can fill in the blanks if you miss something. The biggest mystery in this book is the title. The book takes place centered around a campground in Kentucky. There are no bungalows and no beaches. I guess there is a burglary, but it's secondary to the story. Chief to the plot are financial fraud and murders, so I guess the title was picked purely due to someone's fascination with alliteration. it's not the deepest book, but has some entertainment value.

Not the best but ok enough
