The best book I read in 2020! I was sad to say goodbye to the characters and this world but, the wait was totally worth all the heartache. Sabaa Tahir didn't hold back any punches and I have never been more glad for it! Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year!

Story
Following the events of The Beautiful, Sébastien Saint Germain is now cursed and forever changed. The treaty between the Fallen and the Brotherhood has been broken, and war between the immortals seems imminent. The price of loving Celine was costly. But Celine has also paid a high price for loving Bastien. Still recovering from injuries sustained during a night she can't quite remember, her dreams are troubled. And she doesn't know she has inadvertently set into motion a chain of events that could lead to her demise and unveil a truth about herself she's not ready to learn.

I Was Not Expecting What Happened
Reviewed: 09-18-20
Damn, I was not expecting any of what just happened! From start to finish, I was on the edge of my seat. Getting the perspectives of everyone who has been around Celine has been helpful in understanding of the events after The Beautiful. Renée Ahdieh surely knows how to weave every twist and turn to keep a reader in anticipation of what will happen next. I loved every moment and can't wait for more.

Story
Annie and Lee were just children when a brutal revolution changed their world, giving everyone—even the lowborn—a chance to test into the governing class of dragonriders. Now, they are both rising stars in the new regime, despite backgrounds that couldn't be more different. Annie's lowborn family was executed by dragonfire, while Lee's aristocratic family was murdered by revolutionaries. Growing up in the same orphanage forged their friendship, and seven years of training have made them rivals for the top position in the dragonriding fleet.

A Whirlwind of a Book that had me HOOKED
Reviewed: 02-05-20
I loved this so much that I didn't want to get to the end! It was Game of Thrones meets Throne of Glass meets Eragon in this fast paced read. I loved the struggles and the heartaches that Lee and Annie had to go through to get to were they ended up. I just need more!

Best Introduction to Brandon Sanderson EVER!!!!
Reviewed: 01-15-19
I'm not a big science fiction fan, but this book absolutely amazing! This is technically my first Brandon Sanderson book and I couldn't ask for a better introduction. I loved Spensa because she's a character who begins to realize that not everything is not as it seems. This book had me laughing and feeling sad throughout. I loved all the flight school scenes and wished they had never ended. The battle scenes were amazing as well. This is definitely going to be a favorite book for this year!

A Bunch of Excuses!
Reviewed: 01-07-19
I've never liked Taryn and now I really don't like her. This whole apology to Jude just sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. Taryn had a choice and she chose to do things that would hurt her sister- her twin- in so many ways. I still enjoyed getting the other side of the story, but Taryn just made me mad.

I Couldn't Stand Either Main Characters!
Reviewed: 09-25-18
First off, this rating is actually 3.75 stars. I loved this world and the magic system, but I could stand either Rielle or Eliana. Both of them just made me want to scream at them. Like seriously, the both Rielle and Eliana just couldn't seem to understand how idiotic they were being. Rielle starts hearing a voice in her head, but it doesn't sound any alarm bells in her mind to tell someone?!?!? Eliana doesn't realize that secrets are being kept from her for MOST of the book!!!!! I wasn't even surprised with the twist since I figured that out way before the reveal. I didn't enjoy the weird, but totally not sure if it was there love triangle between Rielle, Audric, and Corien. This book would have been so much better if Rielle and Eliana used a little more sense. Hopefully book 2 will be better.

Enjoyable, but Wished there was More Action
Reviewed: 05-15-18
This book was enjoyable, but I really wish there had been more action involved. I didn't like Aurora/Roar because she just got on my nerves for all the complainting she did concerning her abilities. I didn't like the instant attraction at all. I hope the sequel is better than this.
