Publisher's summary

Working in Hollywood meant Jessica Dawson was used to lying. As an assistant to one of the biggest agents in town, biting her tongue and spewing out sugarcoated untruths were an almost daily occurrence. But fabricating alternate realities never spilled into her personal life, until three months ago when she told the biggest lie of all.

While her dear gran lay on her deathbed, Jessica mentioned she’d met her soul mate. It had been Gran’s last wish to see all her grandkids settled down before she went to see Jesus. And as the only one still single, Jessica didn’t have the heart to disappoint her.

No one expected Gran to make a miraculous recovery.

Now, Gran was expecting to meet Jessica’s perfect man at her cousin’s wedding, which meant she needed to find a perfect man fast. Hiring a professional was the only solution.

Enter Dave Larsson, younger brother to one of Hollywood’s elite.

Sexy, funny, and just as smoldering hot as his super-famous sibling - he had talent and charm to spare. But most importantly, he was affordable and available.

All she needed to do was haul Dave home, have him meet Gran and the family, then shortly after the wedding, “break up” with him.

It was either that, or admit to her #1 Lie.

Only thing she didn’t plan on was the bigger lie she would need to tell herself when it was time to let him go.

Enjoyed the book

Narration was good, story line didn't stall or drag out, inflection and comedic timing was good in delivery of the lines, this has been a good series so far.

rom com junkie

I love a good rom com and this story delivered. Jess and Dave completed each other. Add laughter and hotness and you have a perfect audible listen for traveling.

The Most Dangerous Lies Are The Ones You Tell Yourself. ❤️

What I like about this series is that each book is a definite standalone novel. I have read all of them now, and even though this is book four, I read it last and never felt I missed a thing. Being a series based on brothers and a bestie, they all make cameos throughout the series and I loved getting to see them again and again.

This book is Dave and Jessica’s tale. He is one of Eric’s younger brothers and she works for his agent. What starts out as a great idea to support Jessica’s story to her gran, ends up with a lot of lies. As much as they try to pull it off, someone is going to look bad and hearts will be broken.

Dave was a sweetheart. He was funny, talented and devoted to not only his craft but Jess herself. She had a great sense of family commitment that resonates well with Dave, and he adored her for it. She only wanted the best for them both but the lies were making it all too difficult. Their story isn’t overly angsty but more sensible working through their issues and comprising.

I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters as each book was fun to read and I recommend all of them. And if you can, add the audio. It’s only one narrator, not my favorite way to listen to a book but audios give you the exact feelings and expressions the author is trying to depict. This author is fast becoming a favorite of mine and I’ll be working through more of her books.

Head over heels in love

I think so far this was my favorite of the series. There is something about Dave and his sweet nature that stole my heart.

Jessica got where she was from lying but when there is a lie, there is the snowball effect from it. I for one get uncomfortable when it comes to liars and stories when the characters lie but this was nothing like I thought it would be. It was fun and light.

The inner war that Jessica has was hilarious! The arguing she had in her head was completely amusing and fun to watch.
This gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings and fall in love head over heels for these two.
I just want to say that I wish I was part of their world, this series will definitely be in my books I would love to re-read to escape into again.

Read the book and listened to the audiobook together for added benefits and love both together and separate.

So good!

Loved this one! ❤ but WHY does the H's name have to be Dave!? and be so loveable!? 😖 f*cking Dave...😑 Anyway! This was hot, steamy, swooney, and a bit cringey (has to do with the h's deal with H). F*cking h...😑 *judges*

Uninteresting

I rarely DNF an audio, but I found this story to be flat and uninteresting. It might have been livened up if it had been written in a dual narration format, but as good as Grace Grant is, even she couldn't save this book. Another issue was that the female lead grew up in Shreveport, LA and still has very close ties there. She is definitely a southerner. But there was no southern accent in the voice, no idioms, or anything like that in her speech or inner dialogue. That just made the character unconvincing for me.

So yes, I DNF'd after about 3 hours. I tried to listen to the end, but that was dull too. YMMV, but this was a fail for me. Luckily, it was in the AE package so I didn't waste a credit.

Reading was so much better than listening to it

I think it's the narrator, because I had previously read this book first and enjoyed it so much I actually bought it instead of borrowing it. Then I started listening to the series because it's free to listen to and you have to buy the books. If I had listened to this first I never would have bought it. I still loved Dave, but dang Jessica, nope. I dont know what it is about the narrators tone, inflections, pronunciations, or what have you but she seriously ruined my enjoyment and memory of reading this book. This narrator has ruined almost all the female characters of the series. The only male I disliked at the end of their book was Roman, well I didnt dislike him as much as I should say that I didnt wish he was mine at the end. THE ONLY ONE. And that was purely due to the authors writing and not the narrator.

Sadly I won't be purchasing anymore of this series than Dave's book. It's a shame because I really love a series when it's about a family and each member gets their own HEA.

lies to the bitter end, smh

Goid title because that's the entire story. Lie upon lie equal storyline. A bit cheesy and juvenile in several places. Dave was a good sport to the very end.
I didn't think Jess was fair with her solution for a breakup. Dave did her a favor and she made him look like a demon when it was all her. Honesty is always the best policy, Jess!!! Not a fan of liars especially when they lie to themselves too. Would Jess have ever told the truth if Dave hadn't pressed the issue??? I think not. Liar!!!! The narrator did a good job.
