About this listen

An EMP attack by North Korea has left most of the United States dark, cold, and in chaos.

Major Damon Sorley is on a mission to bring the president-elect to Washington as quickly as possible. The road is full of peril, as people realize this won't be fixed anytime soon. But he's not alone. He and his fellow soldiers will have to make some tough decisions. Their lives will depend on it.

Having lived in blissful ignorance of the darker side of human nature, the Marshalls and Chandlers are finding out quickly that no place is safe from the desperation of those who find themselves ill-prepared to face their new reality. They must learn new skill sets if they are to survive - whether they want to or not.

Can a tyrannical president be stopped? Will people who have never had to defend themselves be able to learn how in time?

Great SHTF series so far

Looking forward to the next audiobook book in this series. I liked the views from the DC group & how some regular people might deal with their lives tiring upside down.

Not bad

Has the idiots and the smart people as every survival story has. Moves between a military and new president scenario to people surviving out in the world. Not liking the narrator so much but not bad overall.

Short review

Patti writes a good story. Her chargers are well developed and pulled out of everyday life .

5 star story 1 star narrator

PA Glaspy is a great author. Her stories move along at the perfect pace with the right amount of drama and intrigue. I can’t wait for more from her!

This narrator, however, can’t do voices for anything. She can’t do more than one male voice at a time with other male voices sounding like little girls and women. Her accents (besides British) are horrendous and ruined a good chunk of this story. I’m not sure why the author switched narrators from the first few books to this one but it was a horrible choice. United Nation characters from many nations sounded either Asian (sort of) or British. It was cringe worthy. The poor president elect sounded like a little girl. I’ve never had a problem with female narrators reading male parts until this book. Please don’t use her again Ms Glaspy!

Good theme, crap ending

I love the story from start to right before finish. especially the confrontation of people trying to ask for help and help being denied or given was an interesting concept. Buuuut..the final gunfight was some fuckoff disjointed thing that didn't know if it wanted to be described as the most incompetent robbery or most cliche death of all time...

*spoiler warning*

like seriously what moron attacks a group of 9 people armed to the teeth with 1 dumbass criminal with a single fuckoff pistol and his unwilling cohorts? You would have been better just showering their log cabin with lead at night when they're all sleeping, but no, you attack in broad daylight with one armed person and you expected to win? booo..cannon fodder end boss...booo..... that was so stupid.

Story is great -change in narrators for book 4 NOT

I like the series overall. The story is great. However, this book was really hard to get into because of the change in narrators. I had the characters already developed in my mind and when authors change narrators mid-series, it really changes things for me. This narrator isn't bad but wasn't right for book 4.

Perilous Miles series

This is a great series. Second series I have listened to from this author. Love the content.

My ONLY complaint is the changing of narrators on the last books. Both series, the last two narrators are TERRIBLE, especially this 200 Milles to Liberty. What is she doing with some of these characters voices? Making them sound like they are cramping or sick...? I barely made it through the last book unfortunately

Sorry but the narrator killed the series…

I really got into this book and the characters, the initial narrator was fantastic… However I could not even finish this book… switching narrators midstream is a pretty big kiss of death for any series especially if the narration is not on par with the initial one. I’m sure with more experience she will be fantastic. But the series went from a professional production with a high-quality microphone & sound booth to sounding like it was recorded in a closet with an entry level setup.
