Publisher's summary

In 3001: The Final Odyssey, Arthur C. Clarke brings the greatest and most successful science fiction series of all time to its magnificent, stunningly unforeseen conclusion. As we hurtle toward the new millennium in real time, Clarke brilliantly - daringly - leaps 1,000 years into the future to reveal a truth we are only now capable of comprehending. An epic masterpiece at once dazzlingly imaginative and grounded in scientific actuality, 3001 is a story that only Arthur C. Clarke could tell.

Clarke Was Brilliant

Did not see any of this coming. And I loved the whole thing about people from our time wouldn't be able to understand most of what people will be saying 1000 years from now. This is a great ending to a brilliant series.Bravo.

Another great one in the series

Not as good as 2001 but Clarke definitely did a good job of continuing the story and keeping it interesting. Narrator Scott Brick did great, as always.

A Conclusion

I have to say that I liked it but it was a bit anti climatica. The projection of Science and Technology into the future is always the best part of this series My great grandchildren will have to look back and see how accurate he was

A must-read finish to the Series

I'm so glad I decided to get this last installment to the Space Odessey Series. Clarke even gave the story some final twists. And hearing his discussion of the changes and challenges he faced in writing the Series from the first publication of 2001 was very interesting.

Great space science fiction on solar system

Very interesting story on planets and moons with alien monolith and astronauts. And return of Dave Bowman and Frank Poole from 2001 novel. May be like an NDE story too.

A Fitting End to An Epic Saga.

Book 4 was better than book 3. As the reader, you still know very little about the monoliths and who / what built them. These stories are more about the development of the human race as a species in the face of the unknown... so I guess it's ok that the mysteries are never truly understood. It takes talent, finesse, grace, and great skill to deliver a novel of such grandeur and mystery.

I wasn't really all that in pressed with the story. Too long and wordy for me.

Wonderful conclusion of the story

I read the series a decade ago but enjoyed the audio versions immensely. Where is the English version of 2010?

Fantastic science fiction read!!!!

I wish there was more elaboration as to what the TMA decision was and it's plan of action and why. otherwise, it was a fascinating read. I would have loved to see another sequal.
