About this listen

From Kelly Siskind comes a slow-burn romantic comedy about one man’s creative attempt to win back his high school sweetheart after a change in fortune gives them a second chance at love.

Growing up, I had it all—my art, close friends, a gorgeous girlfriend who owned my heart—but then my life exploded.

Turns out my father was laundering money, and my whole family got shoved into witness protection. No notice. No chance to explain. I was ripped away from beautiful, blue-eyed Delilah Moon, shattering both our worlds.

A decade later, fate has given us a second chance.

The cartel my father worked for has been wiped out. I’ve returned to my hometown, determined to win back the love of my life. But Delilah is engaged.

Or…is she?

I’m almost positive she’s lying about her fiancé to protect her heart. Which means I need to up my game.

I’ve made a list of fifty ways to prove we’re meant to be. Except Delilah’s barely looking at me, never mind swooning. I have a feeling my disappearance scarred her more than she’s admitting, and no one in town will tell me what happened…

“Delightfully funny second chance romance. Edgar’s voice is humorous, passionate, and clever, offering a vivid and clearly lovestruck view of the heroine. This refreshing rom-com will leave readers eager for the next in the series.”Publishers Weekly

“Utterly romantic with a soft-as-ice cream, but six-pack bearing hero who will steal your heart while he does everything he can to win back the love of his life. Truly the best second-chance romance I’ve ever read.”—Meredith Schorr, author of As Seen On TV

“Siskind’s newest title is a gently heated romantic comedy sure to leave readers swooning for more…Fans of Colleen Hoover, Alison Bliss, and Chelle Sloan will be drawn to this delightfully entertaining and insightful romance.” Library Journal

Delightful

I don’t usually choose a book with a male narrator but I’m so glad I did in this case. His POV is critical throughout and his dry and droll delivery of the wit and sarcasm is spot on! This is the story of teenage love cruelly separated when the boy’s family is suddenly put into the Witness Protection Program. Ten years pass before the childhood friends and lovers see each other again. No spoilers but it’s a great second chance romance and a delightful audiobook due to the great narration.

Pleasantly Surprised

I rarely enjoy emotionally charged romances & even rarer, a small town second chances story. But this story had a crazy unique spin, adults behaving as adults, LOTS of fabulous dry humor, delivered beautifully by the narrator and not the typical HEA which was even more satisfying to me. I really enjoyed the solo pov from the guy versus the girl, which also surprised me in the best way. Bravo

Wow

This is just great all the way round. Heartbreak is at a med low. Humor is at a all time high. Love scenes are HOT but not to descriptive for the faint of heart. You can feel the friendship and love they share. True soul mates without it being thrown in your face. I will be re-reading/listening to this one again.

Happy surprise!

Idk what I was expecting but this book was so cute!!! A unicorn m/f book told only from the MMC's pov, with him being a simp from page 1! The audiobook narrator was also great!

Love it

OK my honest opinion initially it started off good and then I took a nose dive. But I kept going and it did takeoff and I love the final product. I can’t wait to finish the series.

I loved this story

Wow! First time reading this author - let me say how great was reading the entire story from the guys POV! I wasn’t sure if I would like that or if a dude could carry the entire story arc - Kelly Siskind is a master and pulled it off. The perfect blend of a guys rough edges soften through the lense of true love.

Narration was top shelf too. The second book in this series is in my queue ready to go as soon as I finish this review!

Highly recommend!

To Mars and Back

This was an emotional and sweet second chance romance. It’s also one of the rare romances that I’ve read that features only the hero’s POV. The heavier moments were balanced well with the silly and I laughed plenty of times while reading this one. Childhood friends to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes and Delilah and Edgar (E) were so wonderful together. My heart broke for them and all they lost. I was rooting for them to get their long awaited HEA, but I appreciated that the author let them reconnect gradually and didn’t rush things. I really loved the narration by John Lane and he used such a great mix of voices to bring the characters to life.

The premise of the series is an intriguing one - a family in witness protection for the last 10 years coming back to the hometown and people they left behind. The series is set up well so that each brother (hopefully) gets his own book, but introducing all those characters and side stories made the book feel a little long. I’m looking forward to reading Desmond’s book next.
