About this listen

“A fun mixture of magic, sensuality, and iconic pin-up girl style. The romance in New Orleans Rush will leave you smiling and filled with optimism.” (Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss Quotient)

Falling for your surly boss is a rotten idea.
Letting him saw you in half is even worse....

Beatrice Baker may be a struggling artist, but she believes all hardships have silver linings...until she follows her boyfriend to New Orleans and finds him with another woman. Instead of turning those lemons into lemonade, she drinks lemon drop martinis and keys the wrong man's car.

Now she works for Huxley Marlow of the Marvelous Marlow Boys, getting shoved in boxes as an on-stage magician's assistant. A cool job for some, but Bea's been coerced into the role to cover her debt. She also maybe fantasizes about her boss' adept hands and what else they can do.

She absolutely will not fall for him, or kiss him senseless. Until she does. The scarred, enigmatic Huxley has unwittingly become her muse, unlocking her artistic dry spell, but his vague nightly activities are highly suspect. The last time Beatrice trusted a man, her bank account got drained and she almost got arrested. Surely this can't end that badly...right?

Magic!

A beautiful story with a great ending. I enjoyed it so much, and didn’t expect the last few chapters.

First book by this author and narrator for me, I had too speed up the narration but that is a personal preference, I talk fast so I need to listen fast!

What a Rush

New Orleans rush was a really interesting book. Beatrice ends up in New Orleans in a very unexpected way, she has loan sharks chasing her, and finds an interesting new job and romance. The story was told in the very magical city of New Orleans, which was a perfect back drop for this story. The romance does get very hot, heavy, and graphic. (A very personal preference but wanted to let others know.) The overall story was engaging, there were parts that were a tad slow for me.

I enjoyed Holly Fieldings voice a lot, but I could have done with more animation and inflection throughout parts of the book.

Loved it!

This was my first Kelly Siskind's book. This Rom-Com, slow burn story, is sweet, cute, and fun. The story takes place in New Orleans. The storyline is original. Huxley and Beatrice are great characters, and their story is beautifully written. Huxley's brothers are also interesting secondary characters. Holly Fielding did an amazing job with the narration. I love her voice. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. #AudiobookObsession

The Marvelous Marlow Boys are magically delicious!

I sincerely hope Kelly Siskind is giving us all of the Marvelous Marlow Boys stories because I'm twitching for more magic.

New Orleans Rush isn't just magical...Its also zany, quirky, and full of nerdy weirdo fun. From tshirts to will covet to detecting vampires, New Orleans Rush is an eyebrow raising, smirk inducing fun bunch of awkwardness. Bea is beyond quirky and wildly entertaining. She's a sexy vixen set about wooing the Scowly Smurf in her life. (It sounds crazy but believe me - it's an adventure worth embarking on!)

New Orleans Rush proves it's not about the destination (though that too is perfect!), it's all about the journey!

Join Bea, Huxley, and the remaining Xs of the Marlow Brothers on this Marvelous(ly) magical adventure!

Charming, funny romance in the Big Easy

This is one of the best romantic comedies I have ever listened to! You get a nuanced 10-hour slow burn, stage magic, an adorably bubbly heroine, and the flavor of New Orleans. The narrator is fantastic as well. I highly recommend it to all romance fans. The writing is as good as that of Helen Hoang and Molly Harper. I like the writing better than that of Julia Kent, Sarina Bowen, and Penny Reed.

The third person perspective alternates between the two primary characters, Beatrice Baker and her love interest Huxley Marlow, but more often with Beatrice. I love how the author really lets us get inside their heads. Huxley is a stage magician in New Orleans who performs with his two brothers in their crumbling theater. Huxley has been weighed down by responsibility ever since his beloved father died in a tragic accident. Then Beatrice Baker flies into his life with her vivacity and her pin-up style. Beatrice has also had a hard time in life, but she always looks on the bright side and infuses every day with fun and appreciation of the little things. I absolutely adore both of these distinctive characters. They also have sizzling chemistry between them.

The narrator Holly Fielding did an expert job. I was highly impressed, and I plan to look for more of her work soon. She has perfect comic timing and a very pleasant voice. She conveys subtle nuances of emotion. The narrator perfectly embodies the role of Beatrice Baker while still being able to sound like sexy guys. Holly Fielding's warm narration, together with the excellent story, sucked me in immediately and wrapped me in a cozy cocoon of sound.

Fierce and Fabulous! Five Solid Gold Stars

My heart is always pining to fall in love with a new-to-me author, but the falling is are too few and far between. As I listened to New Orleans Rush, my toes began to tingle and sure enough, a new literary crush was born. I adore the strong prose writing with memorable quirky turns of phrase, kneaded together with serious happiness, swoon worthy love, a few dashes of intrigue, and a very very satisfying end. Pair Siskind’s writing with Holly Fielding’s delicious narration and this book become a rare treasure. I just flat-out adore this read. ❤️

Quick, effervescent read

This book has all the effervescence of a chick-flick and the quick page-turning of a jam-packed read you don’t want to put down. From lemon drops to half naked men, from magic to art, from thugs to falling in love—it’s all there. I listened to the audiobook version and was immediately captivated by how easy it was to get into. I’m NOT a fan of romances (this was a book club pick), so I was hesitant to give it a go. But it was fun, flirty, and an easy summer read that I simply couldn’t put down (also it didn’t have TOO much romance like some books in that genre). It’s good to have those kind of mindless, cutesy books every now and then!
